David tracks down a Nadal banana for a terrific squash shot. Nadal with 13 unforced errors already. David has 8. David also has 11 winners to Nadal's 5.

Nadal seems to be at least going for slightly bigger serves, but the lack of angle on the slider out wide is poor. Ferrer needs to take advantage of that and step in on the backhand return.

Something tells me we have a new winner at RG this year.

Relentless attacking so far from David. Unless Rafa start asking questions, this looks like it will be decided by how well David can sustain the positive play. Sounds weird to even suggest that a clay match at RG can be on someone else's racket but it is what it is right now.

I came here to post this. Nadal isn't winning the FO. This is not a kneejerk reaction. I still expect him to win this match, but not the tournament.

David is looking good, and rafa vulnerable... Even if Rafa pulls it out, everyone else should feel encouraged.

Could it be because Rafa lost in Monte Carlo? Or because he lost in Barcelona? Or because he won Madrid because Kei went lame? Or because he lost Rome? Or something else?

I hear some suggest that in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011 ;)

Monfils v Murray match was crap and decided this watch this instead from 4-4 but Nadal's hitting a lot of short balls here.

It's the fact that he's still playing poorly after all of those tournaments.

Something else. He just isn't playing well but it's a cumulative effect I guess. Doesn't help that Ferrer's confidence is sky high and he's playing very well.

That's a given.

Ferrer's shots are way deeper today, Nadal's hitting so many short balls and lots of neutral nothing shots in the centre of the court.

A service hold to love will help Nadal's confidence a bit.
