Copying all my anime movies from one external hard drive to a bigger one here so not watching it anywhere near 100% Knew Federer was losing the TB before it started though after failing to capitalize on the multiple match points.

Seems he's keen to join Novak for a few shots. At the bar that is.

Or he just lacks the kill shot. And give some credit to Cilic.

In Roger's case it may amount to the same thing.

I see some of the same stuff in this match as I did in the Wimbledon final - Roger trying to make the same kill shots he did five years ago, but his opponent getting to them. With Novak it could be written off as him being one of the greatest defenders in the history of the sport, but with Cilic doing it, it makes me think Roger just doesn't have that killer edge any more. I mean, what is different about his slices and shots that once defeated nearly every foe he faced? Why are his opponents getting to them? Is his game just too well known? Or has he slowed just a bit, so his shots have less zip?

Cilic really wants to hold this game or else Roger could get the necessary momentum going.

The other day against Polansky Fed was 6 of 6 in BP conversion. Today Fed was 0 of 6
in the second set alone and all of them were MPs.

His forehand is absolutely nothing like it was. Way too erratic and not enough power on it which is strange given the bigger, stronger racquet.

It's ok. You're so charmingly obtuse, I doubt anyone noticed. Plus, (psst) it's only a few of us watching this match. ;)

wonder if that was the most match points Federer has blown in his career ?.

A forehand seems to be much easier to fix than, say, movement. Roger's movement seems to be good, belying his age - certainly having taken less of a hit than his forehand. I wonder why he can't reclaim his forehand.

I suppose my answer to my own question is that perhaps his movement HAS slowed a bit, which has made it harder for him to get around the ball to really kill it with the forehand. Just a fraction of a second lower and, voila, a more erratic and weaker forehand. Just a theory, though.

not a theory, its reality.

that's why he moved up to a bigger wand, to help negate all the shanks he was hitting as he slowed a bit using his 90sq in.

He's noticeably slower hitting forehands on the run and it's only natural really I guess with the amount of matches he's played in his career. But yeah a fraction of a second in tennis is huge, especially reaction speeds on ROS.
