And Novak comes out on court and is following Stanley's path. Jo takes the opener 6-2

Whoa. Must start watching! Missed the whole first set.

Poor play by Novak or Tsonga playing well for once?

^ The former I'm guessing. No offense to Tsonga but haven't seen him play well for literally years.

Nice play from Tsonga there to get the early break.

JWT is playing well and Novak is still shaking off the rust. Jo might do what La Monf couldn't do yesterday (hold it together for 2 sets). We'll see, I never count Nole out until they shake hands.

Yeah, can see now watching it's a bit of both. Tsonga's playing well alright but if he drops this service game I'm not sure how he'll fare.

Nole might still be in vacation mode and it's understandable. Main thing for him is being ready for New York and I'd imagine he will be but this week and Cincy could be good chances for the rest of the field.

Poor Billie and herios. On to Cinci!

Both watching it live? Not pleasant viewing for Novak fans for sure.

Gasquet has a groin injury they said and Murray gets a walkover to presumably meet Tsonga.

When he's this bad, you know it's his brother Marko wearing a Novak suit.

(in other words, he's barely trying)

Poor Billie...I'm glad to see Herios in anguish, he knows how to dish it out

Novak's contributing big time to causing a possible obstacle for everyone in the US Open now because eventhough he's playing like crud, Tsonga's confidence from a win here will likely make him more dangerous than he's been for ages. Not necessarily but it'll sure help the confidence and ranking anyway.

Shades of Tsonga circa AO '08 with a masterful dropshot.

^ Not too worried about Tsonga. But this could give him a boost for sure and I wouldn't mind seeing it. He has an entertaining game when he can bring it. But there are too many people that can and will take him out at a GS at this point.
