RE: NBA Playoffs

Halftime score: 57-53 OKC. Manu has 20 points and is on fire from downtown today. Good effort from OKC. I wonder if they can sustain the momentum in the 2nd half and take this game.

Indy is just too inconsistent and they are having trouble stopping the "others". Allen, Cole and now Bosh have each had big impacts on one or more of the Heat wins. And last night was one of those games where Lebron decided to take over from the beginning. Looks like it is curtains for Indy and might even end in game 5 as Murat predicted (game 1 would be the only Pacers win).

There is nothing interesting about these playoffs unless OKC can push this to game 6 or 7. If not its just another coronation for LBJ. David Stern really made it easy for the Heat to 3peat. What an overrated piece of crap he was and still is.

Brother, you better hope the Spurs win that series. The way they are playing I don't think the Heat lose to the Thunder regardless of Ibaka's health. If OKC wins tonight I will call it 50-50 series but I think Spurs rebound tonight and win.

And how did Stern make it easy for them?

Stern allowed three free agents to orchestrate themselves to go one team. Did he ever allow that to happen prior? Suppose Jordan would have gotten together with Akeem or with Shaq or Duncan.. Why did he stop Chris Paul from becoming a Laker, we know it wasn't because of the whining of Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert..
As for the Finals, Spurs or OKC.. it doesn't matter, it will be LBJ and the Heatles..

I wouldn't put it past OKC to blow this game, but they've just played arguably their best half of the playoffs. KD on fire, and Westbrook is absolutely wreaking havoc on defense. I really love the combo of Ibaka/Adams as far as protecting the rim goes. Moving forward, they might become quite a duo as Adams continues to improve (he's still very raw) and Ibaka becomes a little more aggressive offensively (his mid-range jumper is already very good).

I'm an OKC fan, but the Spurs have the best chance of stopping the Heat. That would very much be a 50/50 series.

RE: NBA Playoffs

Well I think this series might not even be 50-50 now. The way I look at it is that there is no way SA wins game 6 in OKC so the Thunder have 2 chances in San Antonio. All out athleticism is the way to derail SA on both sides of the ball and while Ibaka added the major piece on defense, I think emotionally the impact was bigger. Now Durant and Westbrook are going off despite the fact Ibaka doesn't change the dynamic that much on offense.

SA's other problem is that they lack the superstar. In many systems Parker could be a superstar but SA plays the ultimate team ball and at times that can work against them. To battle a team that is lighting you up a team needs that go to guy that can just go out and get a 10-15 point quarter or even have an amazing facillitator like CP3. SA doesn't have that when you have the rim protection with Ibaka.

They all were free agents that took pay cuts. And in retrospect Bosh is hardly a star and Wade is no longer a superstar. Let's be honest here, anywhere Lebron went aside from one of the 5 worst teams in the league (as his Cavs have been since the day of The Decision) was likely to win a title. God help the league if he goes to the Clippers next.

I remember that CP3 vetoed trade. It was quite a joke and only Emperor Stern could pull it off with immunity. I too am glad he is finally gone.

SA is just a little long in the tooth at shooting guard and at center.. Manu and Tim are still great players but father time has limited the amount of time they can play at the High level and maintain it over 48 gametime minutes.

Last year was the Spurs best opportunity to beat the Heat.. I cant see the Spurs winning more than one or two games vs LBJ. He will just beat them down with his body. True, OKC doesn't match up well vs the Heat(the DWade factor is very prevalent but OKC can send younger legs at him to get in his way).. OKC would have a chance to rule the low post area but nothing for LBJ. They would have to turn Westbrook loose which may cause him to get out of control.

What I like about Ibaka is that he tries to keep the ball in play after a block, say opposed to someone like D.Howard who thinks it is an accomplishment to send the ball to the 7th. row with a block.:nono

Yup. And it helps that OKC are an open court kind of team, and thrive on fast break opportunities and offensive transitions. Ibaka's defensive play is integral in that regard.
