Sorry to see this but I hope she comaes back well in the new season:

Hi everyone, I have some news to share…Unfortunately I will not be competing in any tournaments for the remainder of the season. It has been a very tough year for me. I have been trying my best to improve day in and day out by pushing and pushing…but that does not appear to be the best approach for me right now. I will use this time to work on making a full recovery and take care of my body to compete at my best next season. I always believe that everything happens for a reason and everything doesn't happen the way you'd want it to but it is up to you to make the best out of everything that does…and that is exactly what I am going to do.

The sad part about making this decision is not being able to play in these amazing tournaments that I really enjoy playing in every year and performing in front of all of you! You are all truly my motivation and inspiration! I want to thank all my fans and my team for your support. It means a lot to me. I love you guys. There is a great deal for us to accomplish still. And I will be there with all my heart and passion giving you 100% to get it done! Love V

Hope she recovers well and becomes competitive again. I want her back soon as she is
probably the only person with mental and physical wherewithal to give a tough fight to Serena.
With Vika MIA, Serena's quest to catch Steffi will be lot easy.

I don't know about that Vika was pretty MIA this year, and Serena didn't have it quite so easy ;). It is one less road block, but as Serena has proven she can make her own life difficult regardless of one less obstacle. Also, that doesn't mean Vika won't be off training and trying to prepare to compete in 2015. It sucks because her ranking is going to tank, and if she comes back strong early in 2015 that means that quite a few of the top ladies could go down early leaving us with a craptastic fest potential of a final in AO.

Watch the Chinese - they're coming. Carla Suarez Nvaro has really got problems against Kai-Lin Zhang (#213)- already ahead 32 and been able to break Carla twice - okay she broke back and probably will do it again (she did), but this shows that you have to be careful against the unknown

Two seeds out already - Pennetta and Cibulkuva.

I read Domi had to retire in that match against Keys in the 2nd set,do you know what type of injury she sustained at all?

So true but Gabi turned the match and she is winning now. Gabi is quality, imo she just needs more Spanish bull mentality to boss her matches in a more aggressive manner. She is very good.
Flor would have been nice for Simo as a first match warm up.
I really really fear a match with Mugu at present.
If Simona will fight all will be ok, but I dont know how she is at present..

Good matches played on small courts while poor matches are on center court... thats not right.
Why do organizers always have no clue which matches to put on center court ?!
Its so stupid. Let some WTA people decide which matches to play on tv on center court.
I wish I could see Lisicki, Mugu, JJ and instead I see navarro and a 215 ranked player and Aga who is just bad at present. Idiots (excuse me).

I don't know what went wrong, we couldn't see that match. I'll write it if I find out.

From the New York Times:

"Australian Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia, the No. 12 seed, retired with a left ankle injury in the opening game of the third set after splitting the first two sets against American Madison Keys, 4-6, 6-3."

Garcia's forehand is working overtime against Aga, as Caroline takes the 2nd set tie break, and had 0-40 on Aga's serve in game two of the 3rd set. Aga held, 1-1.

Well Simo - it might not be your choice of match but it was an intrguing one of a kind. Garcia beat Aga after 2h 43 min play where there were lots of great play. Well done and congrats to Caroline Garcia - well there's something about the name Caroline:clap;) So another seed bites the dust - that's 3 today - who'll be next.

Look at the amount of winners - well oh yeah and the amount of UFE

Stosur having problems with Karolina Pliskova and behind 13 after 12 min
Ana is struggling and has just lost 1st set 67 - and already behind 01 in second - well well. But Anastasia has a lot of double faults - just stroke #11! so Ana should have a chance - or maybe NOT she's behind 35 in second set and serving for staying in the set. Stosur lost 1st set and behind 02 in second. Must be something in the air :) Ana Ivanovic lost 67 56 - retired - that's seed #4

Well done to Garcia taking out the no 5 seed Radwanska
Caroline has a good solid game, though inconsistent with her results
I believe Andy Murray touted her as a future no 1,he was impressed with her game.

There's something about the stats, clearly a good match by both ladies, CG is +9 on the W/UFE, Aga +3. However the break points went, Caroline 4 of 13, Aga 6 of 10. Usually that's enough to win. Apparently those 66 winners came at big points other than break points, like the 18 of 24 net points Great match commies to Aga, Congrats to Caroline. After 2 long matches, I hope she still has the mojo to keep going.

Sad to see Ana retire. Must be too exhausted. I expect more upsets than usual as the season nears the end. I think Serena will survive Cornet this time.
