Well, he has his Indian summer to look forward to as well, which is nice... :popcorn

No worries with that. They don't even exert themselves playing that kind of crap anyway.

They don't rest either, though. in 2012, Federer played the South American junket that Rafa and Novak played last year and he felt it messed up his downtime, and also his prep for the Oz Open. I was very surprised he signed on this year when Rafa ducked out. Don't be surprised if Roger ducks out too...

We'll soon know what yesterday did to the Swiss team. There are all sorts of rumors that something unpleasant was happening in the men's locker room last night.

I've no problem if he plays or doesn't to be honest and can't see how playing that messed up anything really. He's playing what 3 "matches" ? Or is it even 2, I can't remember. It's just an excuse to lie on the beach in Goa or somewhere nice afterwards. Plenty of time to rest.

That's fairly extraordinary, Billie, if it's true. A little disappointing of McEnroe to blab about the dressing room - which should be kept private - but there is a rift, it seems fairly incredible...

Are you really that surprised? Federer threw Stan under the bus in previous DC competition, against USA a few years ago. This is not the first time that there were things happening between the two.

Is it? I honestly didn't know that. I thought they were reasonably close. But a dressing room bust-up like this could be forgotten about the next day, depending on the relationship between them...

Taking steroids for 6 years without being aware of it (lol?!) clearly screwed up his mind.

Being friends and playing against one another can cause a rift at the best of times! Losing a close match with obvious interference by one's camp can only destroy what little trust they had in one another! Federer's in trouble in so many ways now! I'm shocked the end is looking so treacherous! :nono :dodgy:

JMac is not the only one speaking about this, more journalists are tweeting about it. Stan was complaining about Federer's box yesterday a lot. I mean yeah, the better person wins at the end, Stan couldn't do it, but why he deserves to be provoked by Federer's wife of all people? Stan's wife was just cheering for her man. That is what they are supposed to do, as well as fans, not heckle other player. I really don't see how anybody realistic can commend this behaviour.:nono

Recently Nole gave an interview for a Serbian paper and when they asked him about the standard questions like which camps he gets along best, he said: his Serbian teammates first, Murray and Nadal after that. But he also said that there were times when Nole, Rafa and Federer wouldn't talk to each other at all, for periods of time. People's egos get hurt and it is not easy to deal with all that.:snigger

In fairness, Mirka is the model citizen. I can't imagine her doing anything to deliberately disturb her husbands opponent...

It says unconfirmed for a reason. If the guy can't win with 4 match points he doesn't deserve to win anyway much like Robredo blowing 10 (!) match points against Murray in 2 finals.

Someone called to tell me she was cupping her hands to her mouth to whoop it up! Not sure she realizes the cameras are on her a lot! STUPID! Why this week before DC? What an idiot! I won't feel badly now if the SWISS team collapses now! I have a real problem when something like this goes on behind the scenes! :nono :( :cover

After reports engulfed the O2 Arena regarding the late-night discussions, seven-time grand slam champion John McEnroe told ESPN: "Afterwards, something went on in the locker room, there was a long talk between the players that extended well into the night.

"And the stress of that - I can't confirm all of this - but a lot of this went on and that caused....I don't think that helped the situation.

Really Jmac? You can't confirm? :nono
How about NOT talking about things you cannot confirm in the first place?

Yeah, like there are no other people around them, somebody will speak up from time to time. Obviously Stan heard her! Anyway, the more I read about this, the funnier it gets. Apparently Federer called Andy to see if he would be available for an exho before he let the tournament or his opponent know that he would withdraw from the final. What a bloody shambles!!!:snigger

Maybe trying to prep him for what is to come in France?;) She was helping him!

Seriously, I have never seen Mirka do anything negative during a match, live, or on tv. She supports Roger, that's all. Of course, I do not see everything, so...
