Now I will admit if you don't know a fact, you shouldn't just throw random things out there. You do have a bunch of fact checkers at your disposal. Also, I am betting a smartphone to look up the information.
And they sometimes simply misspeak, as was -- without question -- the case with Patrick McEnroe messing up the number of slams Federer has won. He didn't throw out a random number because he couldn't remember the correct one. It was an innocent mistake. If any Federer fan was offended, or thought McEnroe was trying to denigrate him, they were being ridiculous.
I mean if all commentators had to say were positive things about Serena's game, then that would be boring. Serena always has things she can improve on with her game or records to be adjusted. Negative commentary isn't always from a negative place ...
Exactly. Once again, I'll use Federer as an example, as another famous top player with millions of fans, just like Serena.
Every single time Federer plays, the commentators will say what his opponent needs to do in order to beat Roger. This is their job as commentators and analysts. Therefore, when his opponent comes up with a great shot, or breaks Federer's serve, or wins a set, the commentators will commend him for executing the right tactics to beat Roger. Conversely, when Roger is winning, and doing the right things, the commentators will say so, too. Interpreting any of this as being pro-Federer or anti-Federer is completely wrong, as is the case with the commentators when analyzing Serena matches.
They're not working for the Federer Sports Channel or the Serena Sports Channel. They're working for ESPN, CBS, the Tennis Channel, etc., so they discuss both sides.
Spot on Tented.. Dude.. you got your A game on as usual:clap
