You are correct.

Not really. See above.

Yeah, really.

Herios literally said he'll be back a few days ago as he's on holiday. While Mastoor always disappears after a Novak loss (unless he flat out said he's done with this). Not sure about Billie. Maybe she's too upset over that whole thread regarding Novak's dad and his comments.

Who said that? I am not so much into tennis these days and I am getting ready to follow that poker tournament in Prague.

Good to see you back Mastoor. :)

PS, I hope Mastoor returns too. He is funny and a breeze of fresh air on this Fedal forum. But it seems that most Djokovic posters (Billie, Mastoor, Yolita, herios(where is he?)) have abandoned this ship unfortunately.

I wouldn't call our community a "Fedal forum" to be honest. Actually there aren't that many Nadal fans here. With Clay Death unfortunately leaving and Imjimmy occasionally posting, there is Moxie, Kieran, Broken, tented, Antipusher and rafanoy left who contribute regularly. Sorry if I forgot someone. That's six passionate Nadal fans. Hardly an armada. ;) I recall more Djokovic fans. I also wouldn't call it a Fed forum either, the balance across the top players is just about right except for probably Murray.

What this forum makes a much better and enjoyable place compared to MTF for example is the obvious maturity and quality of the posts from its members. You have constructive discussions and debates by matured, sophisticated and kind people with obvious knowledge and insight into the sport and across many topics. As long as this is the case, I really couldn't care less whether or not one fanbase is dominating this forum, which IMO is not the case. Places like MTF are very often a big and sad kindergarden with the main purpose of provoking and insulting. Agreed about Mastoor. Nice to have him back.

Honestly, the whole "Fedal" forum narrative is only such if Djokovic fans look at it from the perspective of "you're either Fedal, or Djokovic." Except Djokovic is ONE player, and Fedal are two, so of course they're going to be more numerous. If you actually divide fans into Federer, Nadal and Djokovic fans (meaning you separate Fedal fans, as you should), I think you'd find a far more balanced board, as pointed out above.

I really don't get the Djokovic fans melodrama in that regard (I thought off court melodrama was Rafa's shtick!), especially a recent post suggesting that all Djokovic fans have departed when one of them, as far as I know, never signed on this board to begin with, one is never a regular poster, and the other two post pretty regularly. Yet there was emphasis that they were somehow fed up with the anti-Djokovic propaganda here and chose to leave. A bit excessive if you ask me.

Now I do think there are more Nadal fans than there are Djokovic fans here (and more Fed fans too), but guess what? There are more Federer fans than there are Djokovic fans in general (ditto for Nadal vs. Djokovic). So I'm not sure how that is so odd.

Somewhat related, I find it funny how each set of fans have their own insecurities, and it's almost universal. For instance, Federer fans are mostly insecure about his H2H vs. Nadal and how it's interpreted. Nadal fans are insecure about his game, whether he's a complete player, his talent, etc... Djokovic fans are mostly insecure about his popularity vis-a-vis Fedal, and the whole "how can you not like him?" thing. I don't see any reason for each of the above insecurities for the record.

Why the hell are you bringing the Fed/Nadal H2H into it?

^ In all seriousness, an excellent post. If you combine two of the three then the other one is always outnumbered, so it could be equally claimed it was a Nadovic board.

We could probably do with a few more Djokovic and Murray fans though to add a bit more balance.

Who would people's Player of the Year be, if for example - one player won two majors and another ended up as the year end #1?

The player who won two majors, IMO. Case in point, if Federer had somehow finished 2008 as the world number 1, would anyone NOT pick Nadal as the player of the year that season?

Agreed. It's between Nadal, Murray and Djokovic. Whoever wins on Monday has my vote.

Understanding that that their games are outmatched by the other three (in some cases significantly), what if Gasquet, Wawrinka, or Youzhny managed to overcome a career of choking in the pressure situations and won the U.S. Open.

Who would you pick then?

I'd have to go with Rafa, not just based on points but the fact that he pretty much dominated the clay and summer hard court season.

Probably Rafa in that scenario, but say if Murray or Nole made the finals (and finished runner-up) and also won the YEC and finished #1, then that would probably sway it back to one of them.

Possibly. That would mean Novak was in all 4 Slam finals and winning one, so yes. In your scenario, Murray's skipping the French would hurt him and I would still pick Rafa.

Number #13 is the goal, the #1 year end ranking is a nice to have but for me #13 is the primary. You take care of #13 and the #1 ranking will eventually take care of itself. IMO

PS: Didi, who said that Clay Death was gone?

CD announced it himself.

Seems Samson is announcing another period of Nole's total domination. Concentrating on online poker and Bacardi sounds like much more fun than tennis in that case. ;)

Apparently, Outdoor Poker beats Indoor Poker, for the moment, and the wind blowing the cards is a factor. :laydownlaughing Somebody bumped this thread up, and it wasn't me. But I guess the point was: that #1 is on the line.

Fewer than 1000 points between Nole and Rafa now. I don't see how Rafa doesn't take it in the next few weeks. They're both scheduled for Shanghai, and Novak is defending the title. If not there, then the next, right?
