The Tournament:

The Miami Open (also known as the Miami Masters, and currently branded as the Miami Open presented by Itaú for sponsorship reasons) is a tennis tournament held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. It is part of the men's ATP Tour Masters 1000 circuit, and part of the women's WTA 1000 circuit. The Miami Open is usually held between March and April.

The tournament had historically been held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Florida from 1987 through 2018, before moving to Miami Gardens for 2019. Behind the Indian Wells Masters, it is the second event of the "Sunshine Double"—a series of two consecutive hard court tournaments in the United States at the beginning of the season. They are the only tournaments besides majors where main draw play extends beyond eight days.

About Miami:

Miami, officially the City of Miami, is a coastal metropolis and the seat of Miami-Dade County in South Florida. With a population of 442,241 as of the 2020 census, it is the second-most populous city in the state of Florida after Jacksonville. The Miami metropolitan area is the ninth-largest in the United States with a population of 6.138 million in 2020. The city has the third largest skyline in the U.S. with over 300 high-rises, 58 of which exceed 491 ft (150 m).

Miami is a major center and leader in finance, commerce, culture, arts, and international trade. Miami's metropolitan area is by far the largest urban economy in Florida, with a gross domestic product of $344.9 billion as of 2017. According to a 2018 UBS study of 77 world cities, Miami is the second richest city in the U.S. and the third richest globally in purchasing power. Miami is a majority-minority city with a Hispanic population of 310,472, or 70.2 percent of the city's population, as of 2020.

At least Alcaraz and Djokovic are projected to meet in the SFs, not in the QFs if both players make it, Alcaraz has a favorable draw to the final

I will do my draw challenge in this one. In theory Alcaraz has indeed a good draw, but both R2 opponents look like potential landmines to him (a few in R3 as well).

I agree, I picked Alcaraz to go 3 peat at IW, if he can get past his opponents in R2 and R3 he has a good chance in Miami, actually Zverev has a good draw and this court I feel suits him better than IW, though on his current form I would not 'touch him with a ten foot pole' :)

Bottom half of the draw plays Wednesday, and so the first seeded action Friday also has the bottom half, Alcaraz, Medvedev, Djokovic

Miami courts are fast since 2017. I can see how tricky it's going to be for Djokovic here. Alcaraz too. I don't believe that either is a great player on faster courts. I am expecting Draper, Rune, or Rublev to take this.

I gave you a like for doing the challenge, but curious to know who you see as these early landmines. Dimitrov, maybe? I don't expect Alcaraz to play as poorly as he did his last match at IW, which was surely also partly opponent, partly pressure to 3-peat. He was playing pretty great until then.

Surely not Dimitrov, @Moxie. I saw one of his recent matches , part of it at least, and he is lacking a lot of bite in his shots. I don't expect him to go far here. Hope to be proven wrong, but I am not holding my breath.

I was looking at R2. Alcaraz plays the winner of Vukic x Goffin. For different reasons, both seem to me like players who can bring problems to Alcaraz, specially if he is in an off day. McKenzie on R3 falls in the same category. Beyond that, he will be in full flight already and should only be stopped by some other top dog.
