Obviously Djokovic was on the brink of retiring with his injury

thats interesting because there is also a school of thought that at least the 1 handed BH is a more natural shot.

My high school tennis coach would say “imagine giving someone a BH slap” so since slapping others must be instinctive to me my BH was always by far my better shot. ; )
For sure one handed BH is more natural than 2 handed.

Giving BH slap is with knuckles while FH slap is with a palm. When a FH palm slap meets the face it makes that unforgettable noise, like in comic books :)

On a serious note, Novak's leg looks ok, but not sure if it will hold when it gets really tested, perhaps against Rune. Novak likes these mental tricks; I have an injury, I don't have an injury.

I don't believe the injury talk especially when he's winning sets 6-0... It's just his usual dumb tricks maybe if people think I'm injured they will be nice and not boo me :lol6: I would quite happily change my avatar to him with a trophy for ever more if he retired from the tournament! That's how much I believe this "injury" talk. AO 21 all over again :sleep2:

Well at least Craig Tiley ( Protector of Novak Djokovic) was pleased no one booed him on Rod Laver Arena :)
Player's do use 'mental tricks' at times btw

Sasa Ozmo said he spent more time looking at Novak's leg and movement, than how Novak played. Looks like there is something there, but on the other hand it might be nothing serious.

Kieran,

Well even the top overseas journalists eg Chris Cleary who writes for the New York Times, was in attendance at the exho between Nick and Novak, he even commentated that Novak's hamstring appears okay, so Novak mentioning many times in Adelaide, has caught their attention, even though he won the tournament, it does set up for a good narrative and head line if Novak's does win his 10th title at the AO...." Novak Battles A Hamstring Injury and wins his 10th title at the AO :) I have other sub titles as well, though I will leave that for another time:)
Novak's tropical jungle juice is poised to save the day. It's very, very hard to have good mobility with a hamstring injury so it seems like utter bs tbh.

Don Fabio,

Thinking more about the back hand, just back from my run, I think the 2 handed bhand is much more proficient in the return
Though I would not mind the one handed bhand in general play. I can always dream :)

Looks as if Murray's win over Matteo is running on a loop! Every time I turn past ESPN2 it playing sometime during the match! IDK WTF? :thinking-face:
Poor guy probably hasn't a prayer next match. Tbh as much as the headlines are about mighty Murray, for much younger prime Berrettini to be 2 easy 6-3 6-3 sets up and then lose to a nearly 36 year old with a metal hip unfortunately says more about Berrettini than it does about Murray. A nice win at this stage of his career of course.

Murray was the one w/ the 2 set lead and allowed Matteo to come all the way back, holding a MP or 2 in the 5th! He blew it on his own since Murray didn't do anything that special to get back into the match! He was serving better & his backhand was holding up very well! It all came down to a couple points near the end; then Matteo totally went off the rails in the 5th set TB gifting "old man" Murray that match! :astonished-face: :fearful-face::face-with-tears-of-joy::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

yeah, titanic battle with Murray and Berrettini. I must admit i was divided asto who i wanted to see prevail. Tough match-up for just the first round.

Vince,

Cant Channel Nine dress their commentators on court a bit better for starters, John Fitzgerald looks like a 'hobo' with that long shirt that looked it never was ironed, a pair of ill fitting pants, and who wears a hat like that at night for starters, there is no sun LOL!, it was raining and the roof was closed :)

Murray used to always do it one minute he's winning and the injury is fine the next he is losing & shouting and clutching injured body part :lol6:
Since I'm being the Murray defender on this thread, part of my point is that, while I didn't see the whole match due to ESPN BS, I didn't see him do it here, and, in general, when Lendl's around, I think Murray behaves much better, as Ivan doesn't put up with crap.

Agree Moxie, Lendl would not put up with crap period, though I have been live to matches at the AO, when I felt sorry for Murray's box, the way he sore at them, also swearing at times on court was over the top., Lendl was not his coach at that time
