I've been on the Janowicz bandwagon since Bercy, even for all of Kieran's sneering. ;) You can keep the rest of them.

Moxie, i was looking at him yesterday in his presser, his face reminded me of Marat, slight resemblance, although not as good looking, but still, he might develop a career similar to Marat in the end, you never know

I agree he looks rather like Marat, not as handsome, no, but also overall physically. I see that El Dude disagrees with the comparison, and I hope JJ has more drive, but Safin didn't have a terrible career. I'm sure Janowicz would take 2 Slams, at this point.
:)

HOW MANY TIMES? HOW MANY SLAMS? HOW MANY SLAMS ? :D Sure has the potential to win some and I hope he does.

The more I watch Bernard Tomic against Gasquet (he just won), the more I become a believer. Its important to remember that he's a fully two years younger than Raonic and Janowicz, and a year and a half younger than Dimitrov. If Haelfix's theory of "moving parts" is true of Dimitrov, it doubly applies to Tomic - who is both younger and has had better results at Slams. I'm not saying he's going to be an elite player, but that I'm convinced that the possibility is there.

I agree. Haelfix's moving parts theory (which he should trademark) certainly also applies to Tomic, and perhaps more so than Dimitrov.

One thing they obviously have in common is the need to workout, and develop their bodies more. They both still look like skinny teenagers, instead of guys who could endure a long five-set match. (And we've seen Dimitrov repeatedly cramp up in the second and third sets.)

Conditioning would also help their mental attitude. How confident can Dimitrov possibly be if at any moment he knows he could begin cramping? How much effort is he going to put into beating someone if he's always thinking in the back of his mind, "My body is going to give out on me."

But the Janowicz thing? I don't get it. I saw Marat Safin. Marat Safin was like a friend of mine. Janowicz, you're no Marat Safin.

:laydownlaughing :clap

Thank you.

For each his own opinion, I think he has a slight resemblance to Marat facially.

Herios, my comment had nothing to do with Janowicz's face (however I do agree there is a resemblance). I meant it in terms of the comparison of their possible career achievements, and how I think Janowicz is over-hyped.

OK, I misunderstood. I know why nehmeth was laughing, he cannot stand the tall guys, I know that, about you I wasn't sure.
My comment was for the phisycal resemblance, the career comparison I just threw it there, thinking that it might happen, not that I think it will for sure.
But he has a style which could help him to win many matches even when he is the underdog.

Janowicz is by far the best moving very tall guy on tour and it sets him apart from the rest. Wonder if Karlovic will return. Probably will for a bit. I know he was sick recently with viral meningitis but no updates from him although I did some searches and thought these tweets were amusing. He's a funny guy Dr. Ivo :)

De Brito totally deserved this win against Sharapova. She screamed louder at her shots.

all we need to do is ask Mr J P McEnroe who to lookout for as hotshots..

seeing as supermac claimed that john isner could win Wimbledon, which is true because all the evidence backs up supermacs theory because Isner is around 28yrs old and he has won 3 whole matches at Wimbledon in his whole career.

clearly a shoe-in for the title then..but sadly denied his maiden championship win by injury this year, but he will win Wimbledon in 2014.

The problem with Dimitrov is that neither his bh or his fh is as effective as Federer's and so he can't quite get into a consistent point construction pattern. Particularly the rally shots. He actually hits pretty nice running fhs and bhs, and has a really nice slice and the serve is also pretty good. He also has that little touch of genius that Roger has, where he can hit some really unusual shots.

But without those bread and butter baseline shots that seem so ubiquitous in todays game, he just can't quite settle into a winning pattern.

I agree with Haelfix's analysis on Dimitrov and others perspectives on his lack of a killer instinct. I'm not quite ready to say he'll never win the big one. I do think better coaching could help the kid. He falls in love with his bh slice as a waiting move when he is clueless on how to proceed. Fundamentally he needs to be more sound with the shot selection and as Haelfix pointed out, he needs a 'go to' shot to open up the court.

Tomic is my personal favorite of the youngsters, confounding as he can be at times. He, more than most of the crop of young talents, seems to use his variety with distinct intentions. His strokes remind me a little of Berdych in that they have an 'easy power' to them. I would like to see him get a little more fit perhaps and take his mobility to another level if at all possible. This next match with T-Berd could be a turning point in his career if he can get the job done.

Both Dimitrov and Tomic have the talent to win a Slam(s), but it might take them another year or two to generate the drive and fire. Maybe when Dimitrov turns 24 and realizes that a Slam victory isn't going to "just happen", he'll get hungry.

Janowicz looks great against Melzer. He just broke Melzer in the 5th set and is up 2-1. Hope he can holds as he's got major spoiler potential for one of the top players. I can't quite see him beating Djokovic, Ferrer, or Murray, but he's getting there.

Jerzy's now #18 on the live rankings. He really could make a run for the top 10, or at least close, by season's end - depending upon how he does at the US Open and if he can regain any points lost at Bercy.

Verdasco up a break in the second, after having won the first. What's gotten into Fernando?

Looking at Tommy, Feernando also has 6 more good years ahead of him:D

Anyways, thrilled for Jerzy, entering into the top 20 and reaching a QF in a slam

I am watching the Jerzy/Melzer match, and what impresses me most, is that he managed to take the second set without play his best. This is a trademark of a POTENTIAL great.

That is correct, I watched it as well. Also, he managed the mini-crisis within the match when he was broken and led, staying calm and being able to focus and turn the table. All great signs of how he's matured since AO, when he was still very green in these type of matches/events.

Jerzy's now #17 in the live rankings. If he beats Andy Murray he goes up to #11. If he wins Wimbledon he's #9. Either way he's climbing and has a chance to be in the top 10 by year's end. Consider that he went out in the 1R of the US Open last year and has no points from Canada, Cincy, and Shanghai - although has 600 points to defend in Paris.

JJ is a weird one, I've never seen a player crying and trembling like he did in the after match interview, completely lost it after a QF match.

Nah, JJ for sure surpassed that 'feller' by a country mile... you should know better Kieran :D can you imagine what he'd do if he wins the semi, or even final? :laydownlaughing
