Maddie took the first set from Simo 7-5, then Simo stormed back and won the next two sets oh and one!

Serena got ahead early, breaking twice early, up 4-0

Ana and Alize are ready to go.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful stadium. Now, can someone give me the list of people in
these statues that line around the stadium?

One thing I had noticed in Madrid and so far in Rome is the serve is much better from Serena. That was a key that had not been clicking for her so far this year. It is nice to see her serve gain a lot more consistency for her before the French Open and Wimbledon.

I thought she was playing quite well in Madrid, and was disappointed by her withdrawal, but, aside from her match with CSN, her serve did look on point.

Yeah, but she did the right thing by withdrawing. There was no point in potentially exacerbating that slight injury and ruining her chances at the French Open as she will need her legs.

Ana pulls through a tough 2 setter 7-6 7-5, Alize fought to the end.

Masha is up against Monica, two of my favs going against each other, Monica takes the first break! Up 1-0 and serving, Masha gets a break point...

Maria needs a FH slide, without a slide it remains a defensive weakness on clay,Maria has a good one on her BH side.

Is it true that Halep has withdrawn from her match tomorrow with CSN?
I noticed she had the trainer out in her match today

One of the matches tomorrow I will be interested in watching is

Li Na v Stosur.......this will be a test for Li Na....Stosur has a H2h 6-0 against Li Na on clay and HCs.
Li has struggled in the past to handle Stosur's heavy top spin.

I remember their match in Rome in 2011 I was there live for that match it was close in the first set and then Stosur blew her off the court.

Good win for McHale, but why did it have to be over Camila? At least Stephens was defeated.
