Just been reading that Swiatek coach saying that Serena would not survive in today's game because the new girls are faster and better. He was saying Iga is going to achieve more than Serena because she is better than Serena. At first I said must be click bait and then I said wait a minute the poles called Serena names when she beat Aga.Iga will never reach the Serena heights of winning 4 gold medals, winning doubles at every grandslam or holding four slams at one time.

Apparently Iga's coach missed Serena when she was playing lol! one of the most things I admired about Serena, was the amount of time she had on the ball, to play her shots,( I would also include Venus) her feet were in early position, I suggest Iga's coach gets some tapes of her Serena and her footwork for starters.

lol, Swiatek is the one benefitting from a very weak era of women's tennis. We've got players like Jessica Pegula and Caroline Garcia in the Top 5. In the early 2000s, Serena played against the likes of Jennifer Capriati, Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, Mary Pierce, Justine Henin, Kim Clijsters, Venus, etc. Pegula and Garcia wouldn't be anywhere near the Top 5 of the rankings in that era, or for that matter, any other era of women's tennis.

Naomi Osaka's former coach Wim Fissette, ( a coach I thought would be great for Coco Gauff) is officially working with Qinwen Zheng, Wim has worked with Clijsters, Halep, Azarenka, Kerber and Kvitova. A renowned coach and one of the brightest talents WTA has seen in years. A great stat for Wim, he has more wins over Serena ( as a coach) over the last 10 years than any individual player.
Lets see what happens.

He had no choice but to study Serena because Kim was Serena's punchingbag.Azarenka was Serena's pigeon,Halep was also a pigeon, and Kerber was already good against Serena.Kvitty had a one time win in Madrid.

Oh well Wim is a great coach, Zheng is very lucky to have him, as I said I thought he would be a good coach for Gauff.

Ladies Final Libema Open ( Netherlands), Sunday June 18th

Kudermeotva (1) vs Alexandrova (4) Defending champion

Rothesay Open ( Nottingham), Ladies Final, Sunday June 18th

Boutler vs Burrage,
First all British final since 1977. The win means either Burrage or Boulter will win their 1st WTA singles title at home, just the 2nd time a Brit has won in the UK since 1981.

Venus Williams received a WC for Birmingham and will face Camila Giorgi in the 1st rd, tournament starting June 19th. ( BTW it is Venus Williams birthday today 43 years young! 17th June)
Defending champion Bea Haddad Maia would be the top seed but withdrew with a knee injury. The RG Sf drops all 500 points from Nottingham and Birmingham. Will try to play Eastbourne and Wimbledon

He is like Carlos Rodriguez, and it remains to be seen if Zheng will jell with Wim.I am sure the chinese will reward him handsomely if she does well.I feel like he is expensive and wants a lot of perks that go with his job.Maybe Coco doesnt trust him because a lot of players fear that a coach might share your tactics with other coaches like what Bajin was doing after Serena fired him.

Well I hope he jells well with Zhang, a player who I love to watch and is very talented, Wim has been a successful coach, I wish him and Zheng well.

Mayar Sherif wins a 10th consecutive match to capture a 2nd WTA 125 title in a row with a 63 63 win over Bassols in Valencia. The Egyptian is projected to rise to a career high ranking of No 31 when the rankings come out on Monday, being seeded at Wimbledon is a genuine possibility

I want Vee to protect her legacy, and playing on is not it.She plays one set then fizzles out in the next set.

I take your point with Vee, though at the end of the day it is up to Venus where she plays, she did receive a WC to play in Birmingham.
