Agree, though I think Simona has been on the tour long enough to work things out by herself.
We've seen players go w/o a coach or a consultant and it doesn't go well. You need someone in the stands to give you feedback about what you're doing wrong, when to train, a hitting partner and how to game plan against your opponent. Players do not have time to be a player and a coach at the same time. Pick the right person(s) that you will listen to and pay the $ for them to do their job.

Yes,though Halep has said that is one of her goals this year to make it back into the Top 10....
Halep is currently No 22
MM, Do you honestly think she can get back to top 10 w/o a coach? Personally, I do not see it. These young players are better at her style of game (like Badosa, Sakkari). Then you have power players that can still hit her off the court (Saba, Konta2, Collins, Naomi).

I take your point, lets see how Simona goes without a coach, maybe at the present time there aren't a lot of experienced coaches available.I mean she let go one of the top coaches in Darren Cahill go,which I feel she will never be able to replace.

Well if Serena plans on making a push at Wimbledon or the US Open, she needs to put in some appearances about now to get match fit.
Serena needs to swallow some pride and take the advice that Billie Jean gave her a few years ago that she unfortunately took personally. Become a full time tennis player again and get a full time nanny for her daughter for the next two years. I seriously doubt that she has another GS in her future but this is her only option, IMO.

Serena to me at present is too busy with her many business interests, which I am not in any way having a go at her.I read she is going to the Super Bowl this year with a commercial.I also feel another GS title has passed her by.I also think the achilles injury she sustained last year took a long time to heal.

That's been Serena's problem since the beginning of her successful stretch! She started "slacking off," doing other things outside of tennis, then arriving at the AO to play into shape! She got away with it so many times early on, she probably thinks she can still do it that way! If BJK gives advice, most people listen! If Serena doesn't, it'll be on her when wasting her time even trying to win another major! She's breaking down and pushing an old, beaten body doesn't improve over time! :astonished-face: :face-vomiting: :rip:

Age does creep up with all players, agree, though I had no problem at all with either Serena or Venus pursuing outside interests,I mean you cannot spend 24/7 thinking tennis, that is where I feel players can have 'burn out'.Another factor taking some time away from tennis you realize how much you miss the game.

Just looking at the IW entry list notably not on the list is Bianca Andreescu and Serena Williams.Neither is entered in Miami either, although the deadline's not passed and,Serena will receive a wild card for both tournaments.
Barty also not entered in Miami yet,w/Swiatek,Tauson and a few others.

S/Finals St.Petersburg Tournament

M.Sakkari (1) vs I.Begu
A.Kontaveit (2) vs J.Ostapenko (7)
Great physical match Sakkai vs Begu. The female young Greek is a warrior..All she needs is to raise her tennis IQ during the critical points of a match and she will be a major factor, IMO.
