Serenas double partner in Eastbourne - Ons Jabeur has just beaten Coco for a place in the final in Berlin. It was a very enjoying and well played match to watch. We saw a Jabeur playing some very fine shots. Coco shows why she a coming top 5 player

Well she withdrew from the warm up tournaments for Wimbledon , so I am not shocked
I’m never shocked by Naomi now. There are things she could do that might shock me but she’s trending away from them…

Rain in Birmingham has cancelled the s/finals, meaning tomorrow the ladies will have to play twice, sad to say

Well clay and grass have never been Osaka's surfaces, she has done poorly on them in the past., regardless of this injury.
I wont get you to name the things that might shock you with Osaka BTW lol!....

Bouchard announcing on twitter she’s not playing Wimbledon due to the WTA not awarding championship points and doesn’t want to waste a PR ( protected ranking) entry.

Hilarious.

OK, Bouchard is currently unranked and hasn’t played a match in over a year. That tweet was redundancy personified, like anyone expected her to work through qualifying to get to the main draw.

Serena Williams and Ons Jabeur will open their doubles campaign in Eastbourne against Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo

In the singles draw,
Paula Badosa, Ons Jabeur, Maria Sakkari and Karolina Pliskova are the top seeds.

I have always been wary of playing any tournament soo close to a major, in this instance I hope Jabeur, Sakkari and Pliskova are not over playing soo close to Wimbledon, hopefully do not pick up an injury

Exactly. She’s a waste of space..

Osaka has only played 17 matches this season, her ranking now has dropped to No 43 this week
If Osaka wants to be seeded for the US Open she needs to play tournaments on the HC and win.

Garbine Muguruza can count herself lucky staying in the Top Ten, usually these days, she goes out in round 1 of tournaments she plays.

Still on the Wimbledon list but withdrawn from Eastbourne. It's correct she's still not quite back on top, so they see how things go week after week. Family is not very good at reporting how it goes, so I'm still convinced that it's a covid infection she got in Miami and recovering from thet can be a long fight back before all systems work fine again. Pity for her - well we'll see

It does appear like it was COVID, people can take a long time in recovery, she is young and was a fit athlete before this happened, hopefully she is on the mend.

AP if you are around,

I saw Serena Williams practicing her serve via video on Twitter yesterday and happy to report the little one was no where to be seen
Happy now lol!
Serena is very close to her little one and if she is meant to win she will win whether Olympia is there or not.I think it's the husband that has not brought her oncourt luck.

I know that, it was AP who was concerned that Olympia could be a distraction for Serena at Wimbledon.
