The French Open is Iga's to lose. No player has set herself apart as a consistent, potential opponent. So many players amongst the top ten having inconsistent and unexplained results leading into the second GS of the season. I am looking forward to seeing Iga hold the trophy at the end of the event, I think everyone else competing is far behind in quality and of course, recent results.

I feel the same, but I also wonder how she’ll handle this situation. Losing a set at this stage might derail her. I doubt it, but it’s not always we see a player enter a tournament and they’re fully expected to win it before they’ve even played one of the seven matches.

Sure, The Big 3 and Serena, but Iga is new to this and it’s gonna be great to see her handle it…

I was too quick -Clara has withdrawn from RG. Wonder what sort of bug she caught in Miami - well hope for the grass season.

And here a statement from her father Soeren Tauson, on her withdrawal from RG: "We did everything we could to get match-ready, but it was impossible to get in good enough shape. She's not playing at the moment, and we're not planning on any specific timetable for her return."

Again what sort of Covid (my meaning) was she hit by in the anti covid vac state of Trumpsters (sorry couldn't resist - a lot of good people there too)

I think she has an awfully cool head, and I don't think one set would put her off. But sure, now she's going in as #1 and prohibitive favorite. This is where the argument for women playing best of 5 comes in. Bo3 offers more chance for upset.

Very unfortunate, but it could be any number of variants or a friggin combo. Like I said before, these people down here are nasty as all get out.

The WTA has announced ( along with the ATP and ITF ( juniors and wheelchair)

To remove ranking points from Wimbledon for 2022.

The ability for players of any nationality to enter tournaments based on merit, and without discrimination, is fundamental to on tour.
In addition, each of the WTA sancioned events ( Nottingham,Birmingham, and Eastbourne) will be penalized and their WTA sanctions will be placed on probation.Since alternative and comparable playing and ranking opportunities exist in the same weeks as those events for the affected players, WTA ranking points will remain in place for those events

Wonder how many players that'll withdraw from Wimbledon. Hasn't there been a similar situation back in time?

I believe it was back in the 70s and I thought it had more of a negative effect on the ATP rather than the WTA. Not sure, but that is the way I understood it when I looked at past champions of the event and noticed a winner whose name I was not familiar with.

That's great news if you are a fan of Raducanu. Delgado is a highly respected and accomplished coach, that's a great acquisition for Emma's team. Let's hope it pays off....

Wimbledon will remove the titles of 'Miss and 'Mrs' in front of the names of female winners on its historic honour boards before next month's championships to replicate the way men's victories are marked.According to a report in The Times, the decision was made to further modernise the tournament. The old fashioned practice of giving married women winner the initials and surnames of their husbands will also changed. The move has been driven by Sally Bolton, the first female chief executive of the club since its formations. She has overseen small teaks to bridge the gender divide.Last year, she also moved to give male and female players the same towels for the first time. But the club will continue to refer to the gentlemen's singles and the ladies' singles, refusing to join the other major tournaments which refers to men's and women's competitions.

MM. I'm really not happy with the AELTC right now. Wimby can take all this fluff and shove it where the sun don't shine. I don't give 2 farts about this stuff when their tournament (by their own doing) is being reduced to a well-organized and well paid political exho.
