Despite being handed a provisional doping ban a week ago,it has been reported that Dayana Yastremska was on a flight to Australia and remains on the AO entry list. The ITF says nothing has changed. She is still provisionally suspended with the right to apply for it to be lifted. In the event that she does so and that application is successful, then she would be eligible to play with immediate effect.

A little ray of sunlight in the middle of all the mess

An answer to a person who argues for why AO can't do as well as FO and USO

Covid deaths France 69,900; USA 393,000; Australia less than 1,000. I think we can organise both a tournament and sensible public policy Josef. People are understandably apprehensive about the UK variant especially given it is now in many regions but not here

^ I have already posted this information on the ATP News.
The Victorian Government has set this protocol and Tennis Australia had to agree,or there would not have been a AO 2021.
Melbourne had a 'second wave of COVID-19 and went into total lockdown for months with a curfew, they are taking this stance so it does not happen again. Our numbers have been low compared to other nations in the world, because I believe we have put in protocols to try to handle this pandemic, other countries have had no protocols at all,I am in the medical profession by the way.
To say 'what a slam it will be' is quite unwarranted by the way, that players have to go into quarantine for 2 weeks without practice because people on their flight have tested positive to COVID-19,that is the decision put forward by the Victorian Government, people arriving in their country Have To Abide By Their Rules First and Foremost.,especially in a pandemic.
There are 2 WTA lead up tournaments before the AO,so at least those players will be able to get some match play before the AO starts on 8th of February.

Bianca Andreescu's coach,Sylvain Bruneau has tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Melbourne,on a Abu Dhabi flight, which means those on the plane will have to do a hard quarantine for two weeks.( Andreescu,Kuznetsova,Ons Jabuer,Bencic and Sakkari were some of the players on that flight).
