WTA Player Of The Month Of January: Serena Williams.

Serena Williams won her sixth Australian Open title and her 19th Grand Slam crown, for that reason she has been named January's WTA Player Of The Month.Following the Australian Open Williams debuted at No.1 on the first Road To Singapore leaderboard.

What were her thoughts on possibly reaching Graf's 22nd Grand Slam titles?

" I would love to get to 22 Grand Slams.I mean,19 was very difficult to get to.It took me 33 years to get here,so..I would love to get there. But I have to get to 20 first, and then I have to get to 21.There are so many wonderful young players coming up,so it will be a very big task.My goal was just to get to 19,I didn't think it would happen so fast, honestly, but if feels good."

Final results of January's WTA Player Of The Month.
1. Serena Williams (39%)
2. Maria Sharapova (32%)
3. Venus Williams (29%)

From the WTA website 5th February.

Fashion, thanks for posting about Bouchard's new coach. That is a surprise. She might now have a chance to improve her game and be a top five player. I wonder who is coaching Vika.

As yet there has been no official word from Bouchard on this new appointment
No comment either from Azarenka, who is in Hungry playing Fed Cup.
I was shocked quite frankly.I mean I don't think this new appointment just happened overnight? when you consider Sumyk was coaching Azarenka at last week's Australian Open?
I will keep my eyes and ears open for further news,I first knew about this from Twitter, then read a few other tennis journalist's comments, who I can safely say are usually correct, one being Christopher Clarey.

Members of Laura's Legions:

Time to wake up. Our Laura is returning to action in ITF circuit soon and her first WTA
Tourney is expected to be Indian Wells in March. She is now ranked about 941. The question
is how soon and how far can she climb up? Will she do better than Genie, Sloane, Madison
and other young things (probably not this year, but in her career)?

Laura needs to leave social media alone,,,,no wonder her wrist is not healing fast.

The day she left Montreal for Antwerp,Eugenie Bouchard revealed the identity of her new coach, and it's someone with some, major credentials, literally in Sam Sumyk.

Bouchard, who had been coachless since the off-season when she split with Nick Saviano, announced the news through a typically-humorous tweet.Sumyk has worked with a number of top players, most notably Vera Zvonareva and Victoria Azarenka-he actually took Azarenka all the way to No.1 in the world and was with her during back to back Australian Open title runs in 2012 and 2013.

Bouchard will be the No.1 seed at the BNP Paribas Fortis Diamond Games in Antwerp, which is making it's comeback to the WTA calender after a seven-year-absence.It's first seven editions took place from 2002 to 2008,with an absolute star-studded roster of champions.Venus Williams in 2002 and 2003,Kim Clijsters in 2004,Amelie Mauresmo in 2005,2006 and 2007 and Justine Henin in 2008.

Report from the WTA website,7th February.

Rumor in the Serbian media is that Ana Ivanovic is going to be engaged to the German soccer player, apparently very soon. She never comments on this topic so I guess we'll have to wait and see if it is true.

Hoegstedt seems to be free of his duties. In a press conference after the FedCup matches Simona Halep said her team is Ionita and the fitness dude, no others. Basically Hoegstedt's contract expired with the AO and wasn't renewed. I doubt there will be any press release on this matter.

Nista, do you mean 0.7 for the women's final? 0.07 seems really low.
