Oh never mind Kerber didn't get any points for going out in the 1st round of Cincy. So no double points for her, but Halep could if she plays New Haven.

Not true. She got points in both Stanford and Toronto. So, she is also subject to doubling if she can reach QF or better at Connecticut.

Is she playing in Connecticut I didn't see her in the draw. Halep is the only one who can it seems if she doesn't withdraw from New Haven.

She is not playing in Connecticut and so she can't double.

Among ladies, nobody has clinched any spot in the US open series so far. Things are still up in the air.

The U.S. Open Series standings site says at the bottom that the winner of Cincy gets 30 additional points. Is that true?

I would hope not. That would not be fair to the winners of other tournaments. Just because the USTA wants to have a prize for their tournaments is no reason for them to be allowed to give out extra ranking points.

No, that is the intermediate state of affairs when they do the update. The finalist of Cincy gets 70 points and the winner gets 100 points. When they update the page, after the semifinals are over,
they give both the finalists 70 points and put an asterisk on both of them and would say that the
finalist will get 30 additional points.

But, at this time you should see a fully updated standings without any asterisks.

Thanks for clearing that up GSM!

But who's still playing this week that can catch Serena? Maybe Pliskova?

Aga and Pliskova because their points will be doubled if they make the Quarters since they have played 3+ events.

I am really disappointed by the the Maria earns more than Serena agenda being pushed down our throats....is it a way of trying to diminish Serena s achievements by the media or pova s agent.
this mantra has never been louder than this year during the summer season..
I thought winning is important...what message is being sent to upcoming players..that achievement hard work is not important..that if you get a good agent you are set for life...
I thought we watch tennis for tennis and not to count their money..

I think people are just shocked that someone of Serena's stature makes less in endorsements than Maria given the nature of their careers.

maybe its her agent who doesnt put in the work:popcornI think she had to get an additional agent from Europe as recent as last year and has added that watch thing and the car deal.,,,but she makes up for it in on court earnings...I think Nike and Wlson should pay her more after she wins the 22nd slam.Maria s advantage is in Asia where they love blondes..
Its just that the noise is louder this summer more than ever,,,its annoying.

its all about looks. she is white and blonde, so naturally she has the adantage. And she has won tournaments and major titles.

I think to an extent that is true, but I think it has more to do with the fact that she is a dominant black female. I mean Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods were very successful with their endorsements. I just think the marketing world very stupidly acts like a successful black woman is a foreign concept and hard to market. Although, this could all be a very moot point because we don't know how much in endorsements that Serena has refused. We also don't know how much Serena receives in bonuses from her Nike contracts.

I just read in one of Serena's interview that she turns down a ton of endorsements because she can't do them all and she needs to concentrate on her tennis.

Q. The videos you have been doing, you did one in Toronto and then I think you did one earlier for Cincinnati. You're getting ready for some promotional commercial or whatnot?
SERENA WILLIAMS: (Looking confused.) I don't know. Like what do you mean?

Q. Isn't there a promotional commercial that's getting ready to be rolled out?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah, I did that for Beats, but I don't remember doing anything in Toronto. I don't think so.
But I did ‑‑yeah, that's coming out, I don't know, probably around NewYork. Maybe a little after. I'm not sure.

Q. Is that something that kind of takes away from your time? Because I know you're on court practicing. You have to travel. It's just a lot of demand on you right now.
SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah, it's a ton of demands, and I pretty much say no to everything. Sometimes you can't say no, though. You have to just kind of suck it up and be happy about it, about the opportunity.
So that's how I have to think about it.
