Tough opening match for Serena but glad she made it through. Very well played by Shvedova in set 1 but she royally screwed up in that first set TB.

Yeah really pulling some teeth in the first set which could easily have gone to Shvedova. Second set much better so a well deserved win.

Only one match remaining - not on TV - again an odd decision - crappy TV again.

Results from Thursday on page 2

I can understand from the score line why you believe Maria won easily. But Maria actually had to grind her match out. It states so in an article on the WTA site. But then who would know because they didn't televise her match :cry I guess they decided to only televise the top ranked/5 players' matches. Maria has Safarova next, so I expect Maria will be going home. As much as I would like her take another beat down from Serena:laydownlaughing She and that ole shoulder will be out of the top ten shortly. I am concerned for her welfare: I hear that if she drops out of the top ten Putin will send her to a jail in Siberia :lolz:

Kleybanova and Halep out.

Li gets a walkover.

Halep replaced by lucky loser Jana Cepelova.

And Aggie is set to play! Talk about a tough Lady...
That's even more surprising.

3 early matches are on. Elena seems to have no issues with Alison, ahead a set and a break. Domi is doing OK as well, ahead in the first set. Roberta on the other hand is having issues again, she should just give up and join the clay season early.

Do you know the reasons? I have been saying Halep looks injured since IW. Something with her legs looks the slightest bit off so I am not surprised. Sorry about Kleybanova. Since coming back from cancer treatment, she has been a favorite of mine. Hoping Aga's knee is ok

She takes the 2nd set w/o much fuss from BZS 6-2

I read on another tennis site that Halep withdrew citing a right toe injury and Alisa has a viral illness.

Genie and Elina are playing, these two young ladies are primed to be the leaders of the new generation...
Elina leads the H2H encounter 1-0
Genie must want this one badly after the tough loss in Indian Wells.
Ahead 2-0 with an early break.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like JJ is going to lose. Fatigue?

Further information regarding Halep. It was a in-grown toenail to be exact. She had surgery on it right after IW and since it still hadn't healed fully, she had to withdraw. Not a bad injury, but a ill timed injury.

JJ is bouncing back, won the second set. Now playing the decider.

Roberta lost a tough 3 setter.

Genie fed Elina a breadstick in the first set but then ate one in the second, this match is going down to the wire.
