Does anyone know whether Serena has the "Carrer Golden Premiere" now?
i.e., winning all four premier mandatory tournaments and all five premier-5 tourneys
sometime in the career?

The 4 mandatories are: IW, Miami, Madrid & Beijing. She's won all of those.
The 5 premiere's are: Doha, Rome, Canada, Cinci & Tokyo. Has Serena won Doha or Tokyo? I don't think she has

Well hopefully Serena goes into the US Open confident. At least her serve is on point, and the return is getting there. The ground game still needs a bit more work. However, two hard court titles going into the open as well as the series winner should bolster her confidence.

Evert said she won 100% of points if she got her 1st serve in -- that's amazing.

That's incorrect, I recall Ana hitting a forehand winner off of one of Serena's first serve in the first set and Serena hitting a 124 mile first serve and losing the point.

Has Serena won in Doha (I can never remember between Doha and Dubai which one she hasn't won) or Wuhan which are listed in the Premier-5 events.

Thanks for the correction, Calvy. :)

Does anyone know how many points Halep defends versus Serena from this point on because Halep realistically seems to be the only one who could catch Serena for number 1? I know Serena has more to defend, but curious how much ground Halep could make to take it.

Here are their rankings breakdowns, but I'm not sure how to calculate the rest.

Serena:

Halep:

EDIT: Those links don't take you directly to the rankings breakdown page, which I thought they did. Evidently you can't link to them directly. Just click on the "Rankings" tab, then "rankings breakdown" and you'll see the numbers.

I know Halep can gain ground at the YEC as she wasn't there last year and Serena defends US Open Beijing and YEC. I think Serena defends 4500 points. Not sure what Halep defends probably significantly less than that.

Looks like Halep defends 875 points from what I can see. A lot of ground to be gained by her, should make for an interesting fall.

A bit late to the party

Congratulations Serena finally winning Cinncy,a solid performance from you.
I felt Ana wasn't at her best due to that tough 3 set match against Maria yesterday,to me she ran out of gas especially in the 2nd set.Still happy to see Ana in the Top 10,she has earnt her place.

Another thing where are all the articles castrating maria for her behavior last night mocking Ana about her blood pressure? Has anyone seen any articles that I may have missed...Not even maria's loss was on the espn front page. None of the so call tennis writers has penned one article about her cold heart towards the "sick" Ana last night. Again the blatant bias of the tennis community even the message boards. I mean you could hear a pin drop from the tennis community with that behavior from pova, and I am sure we will not see a backlash...This is why I hate those people to the core. Could we just imagine if this was Serena? This is a rhetorical question of course.

I checked and you are right. She has not won Doha (made it to finals once though) and
Tokyo. I think Tokyo is being replaced by Wuhan starting from this year or next year.

She needs two more to complete the boxed set of premier trophies.

She is also missing mixed doubles trophies from two of the four slams.

I am wondering since the YEC are in Singapore if Serena might not add Tokyo to the mix. Since I am sure she will be in the neighborhood for Beijing. Might make the difference in keeping the number 1 ranking depending on how both she and Halep do from this point onward. I want Serena to win the mixed at AO and FO and complete the box set. She could also try for mixed at the Olympics in 2016 and have the golden in all three disciplines.

There is no more Tokyo. It is replaced by Wuhan from this year itself. It is easy to
play in as anyway Serena has to go to China to participate in the mandatory China Open
in Beijing. This is a week before in the same country.

Serena defends 4499 points the rest of the year.
Simona defends 1691 points the rest of the year.

Serena leads Simona by 2680 points.

The above stats are as of today.

So Simo would need a lot of help from Serena (not winning anymore titles) and do well herself to have a shot at #1
