skeletor got destroyed by Gillian pushon.

Federer breezed through giving the fans another display of brilliance. (fedsters 140th grass win).

murray on course to meet fedster in the semi's.

djokovic on course to be tired by the final just like at the French open.

By the way, anybody else this is the real top half SF?

I mean, Anderson has been brilliant on grass this year. I think the winner on this match will be the best grass-courter left in the top half.

Actually, as a Wawrinka fan, I should almost cheer for Nole. If Wawrinka made the SF, I couldn't see him beating Anderson. At best it'd be 67 67 67 like at the Queen's Club. Against Nole, I think he'd have a better chance if Nole played passively and let Stan get into rhythm. But I'm starting to be convinced grass suits Nole better than Stan. The faster tempo of grass tennis is troubling Stan.

I guess I'm too American. We will play on and on until there is a winner. Americans hear about "curfews" and giggle. We will play 20 innings until 3 a.m. even though everyone in the stands has gone home dagnabbit. We want a winner! I've never understood how teams can practice for hours and hours, stadiums prepared, thousands of people take off from work, people pay for high-priced tickets, the game is advertised and televised, teams play the game and then everyone goes home satisfied after a 0-0 game. This is one of the reasons I don't care for soccer much. But that's another topic. Ending a game without a conclusion is very un-American but they have their reasons I suppose.

For some reason I'm thinking this break favors Anderson. But no tiebreak so...

Yeah, I thought about this too, I just can't chose the lesser of those two evils for Stan. Perhaps Cilic could handle Kevin if everything goes as it should tomorrow? :D
If The Man is serious about this Wimbledon business, he will have to play much better to take out Novak or Cilic, but Anderson, I just don't see him winning that match.

Well, I should introduce you to the world of "Test Cricket Matches" where folks play for 5 days of about 8 hours each day and often the match will end up in a draw.:laydownlaughing

Cilic has been really weird in this Wimbledon. He does not seem to play well at all. But, he keeps on winning. :puzzled

I feel for Popsicle. The guy played 10 sets of tennis today and I heard the back started acting up . That's a shame. 10 sets is too much. It is not like he was going to beat Murray anyways but putting up a good fight would be important for him.

That is not the whole story. He has won 4 matches in singles so far. He played 19 of possible 20 sets in doing so. :laydownlaughing

...and what's with Simon, king of grass all of a sudden????

It seems a number of players have at least one good Wimbledon; JWT and Berdych (making 2010 final) over Federer a few years ago! Back in my day, it was a Pioline that surprised all by making final against Sampras! Never heard of Chris Lewis after he lost final to McEnroe in '83! I really expected one of the young guns with a huge serve would make their mark by now; still waiting! Most are just plain physically fragile; breaking down after a few good weeks of results! An upset here and there won't do it at Wimbledon! I'm very disappointed in Krygios; couldn't back it up! :cover :eyepop :nono

You can complain about Wimbledon and it's traditions all you want, but I don't think it'll make a dent. ;) And it's not like the USO doesn't have its own scheduling issues.

TBH, I have always wondered, even though the houses are very close to the All-England Club, and it's very high-income bracket, why the residents might not embrace their very famous fortnight and allow matches to go late. Like Carnival, or any other festival, sometimes you get less sleep. So what? Do that many of them live so close to the AEC and actually dislike tennis? That would seem odd. Is it just the Brits and their traditions? Are they too polite to ask the neighbors?

I had originally thought that sleeping on it wouldn't favor Kevin, if Novak won the next 2 sets. But I hadn't anticipated that Anderson would get tired. In that sense, it helps him to get to start fresh tomorrow, when almost surely Novak would have taken care of him, had they finished this evening. I wouldn't call it an advantage, though it gives him a better opportunity, most likely, than he had, playing on. I think he has to serve great and break early, then try to hold on. If they go 5-5, 6-6, as you said with no TBs, the chances are better that Novak finds the break, then the hold. Also, Djokovic began reading the KA serve better in the last 2 sets. He won't forget how to do that tomorrow.

Not that surprising. His draw wasn't that challenging, then Nishikori withdrew, and, between Isner and him, he's the better mover and ROS-er, and they're both tall. The rubber will meet the road for him when he gets the winner of Djokovic-Anderson. His best chance is that person is tired and/or he finds his USO form from last year.

Ah! Cricket! I was introduced to that wonderful sport when I went down to Middle Earth, also known as New Zealand. They explained it to me and I stood there with something that resembled the paddle that used to hang outside Coach Brown's office in high school. Everyone did something and I was like, "And?" That is the extent of cricket career. :cover

Not complaining, just explaining this mindset us Americans have when it comes to closure. And don't get me started on the U.S. Open and their travesty of a scheduling system, if one exists. :dodgy:
