Current Venus can beat her, but if it goes to a 3rd set Venus will lose. The old Venus was clutch at pulling out these tight matches, but current Venus struggles against the younger players in the tightest situations.

I am expecting a 3 setter. Venus is playing too well for it not to go three and well Serena isn't really losing to anyone at the moment, so...

That will be tough on whoever wins as the women come back the next day and play QF on Tues.

Yeah whoever wins then has to either play Bencic or Azarenka the next day which won't be a picnic. I am impressed with Bencic. She has the game to take out Azarenka.

She could, but Vika is the steadier more experienced of the two. I expect her to come through that.

We will see. I like Bencic's chances though I would say it is somewhat easier to do in an earlier round than it is in the QF or SF of a slam.

So do we think they will put the sisters on CC Mon? The greatest day in tennis!

I think they will put them on CC. I mean this may be one of the last opportunities to see them play each other in a slam. It would be fitting. If they don't, then they are idiots.

BBC in England should not be allowed to show sport... period! They've gone to the highlights show while the Cilic - Isner match is still on :cover

I simply don't believe what I'm seeing. Serena is choking the match away. Go Heather!

For all the criticism of Federer, I could never imagine something like this happening to him. He simply doesn't choke in front of home crowds :nono
Are there any slams in Swiss Alps?

What a roller coaster on center court today. This is a girl that Serena should thrash with a scoreline of 6-1 6-2 or something like that. The fact that it did not happen shows the tremendous pressure Serena must be having inside. The fact that she pulled it off at the end shows again that she is a champion.:clap:clap:clap

p.s. Hats off to Heather too. She lost the match, but she did not choke or let the occasion get to her. :clap

Berg,
Probably true. But you know that anywhere Fed goes he has at least 50% of the crowd so he has never/will never experience what others do.:-/

Glad to see Serena right herself, hopefully she will play better now that she has done better than last year. I noticed she is having issues in the rounds that she went out in last year. She will have to play better because Venus is playing well.

Sorry but Venus is not going to beat Serena. Players always bring their best against Serena. Nothing new.

Great match! It has to be disheartening to play Serena thinking you have her, and then you are shaking her hand and going home.
come on Sunday, you and others had Serena out of the tournament and the match was not even over yet.

Just an observation, but if you keep a list of slights, real or imagined, with you constantly, you will be missing out on the good things that could be enjoyed. Bitterness and anger will never taste any different. Some things just need to be let go. Just a thought.

Problem is some fanatic fans imagine more slights than the players themselves. Also, these fans refuse to forgive, even if players themselves forgive. You saw the reaction to Serena going back to IW from some fans.

the behavior of the fans hurt Serena...just saw a clip of her presser and can tell the negative behavior of the crowd really affected her..the look on some of the fans had an IW feel to it.

At some point in the third set, Serena got irritated that fans are shouting during the point and asked the umpire to instruct the fans not to do so. The umpire did so and after than fans behaved.
I don't think the crowd did it intentionally either. They got carried rooting for their girl. Wimbledon crowd is usually knowledgeable and decent crowd.
