Murray is locked for the final. No way anyone is beating him until he hopefully faces No1e.

Have you seen the last 3 days? ;)

I mean , seriously, this Wimby, anything seems possible...

I hope someone wakes up in his section too and will try to aim for glory.

If someone upsets Murray before the final I will change my avatar into a picture of Ferrer. And you know how much I like him.

It ain't happening, how much I would like it though. Murray is looking really good.

My reaction:

1. The tennis Gods really opened the door for Murray. Federer and Nadal are the two big forces that have stopped him the last couple of years. If he doesn't win this thing this thing then there is no hope for him.
2. We are witnessing the end of an era and for that it's a bit sad. Especially for me since I don't have a new guy to root for. Where's the young blood?
3. If Shark doesn't go far in this draw then I'm going to get real mad. You end the greatest streak in modern tennis history and you lose the next round?
4. I guess from Federer's perspective, unless Shark wins the whole thing he can go to bed reassured that in 100 years no one will ever remember this guy. Federer, on the other hand,....

Imagine if both Murray and Djokovic get knocked out. Now that would be a weird tournament.

In other news: Juan Monaco made it to the third round. :puzzled

Troicki is still on track for Mastoor's dream final, Tommy Robredo and Verdasco made it through too. I thought the Wimbledon courts turned into clay courts the second week.

Alright, done being pissed off...congrats to Stak. I figure the streak would end at RG but Wimbledon was easily the 2nd most likely place. Roger has been very vulnerable there for many years now. And it comes down to that awful ROS he has. 2008: 1 break vs. Rafa 2009: 1 break vs. Roddick. 2010: 1 break vs. Berd. 2011: 1 break vs. Tsonga. 2013: 1 break vs. Stak. He was fortunate to even win one of those matches. That's part of what made his run there last year even more special, he just stepped it up at the end when he found his way to the semis.

He needs to get angry and refocus. That's the only way he can hope to do well in slams going forward.

This is it folks. The QF streak is coming to an end. An era is coming to an end.

QF streak is way overrated anyways as it does not constitute a decent run for a top player. Roger's play in general the last 12 months signals the end is near, not one horrific match.

Just reading this back. Being among the top 8 players in the world accross all surfaces for 9 years 36 consecutive times is overrated? It's an incredible record really. No phisical issues, no off-days, being among the very elite on all surfaces for a decade... It's not like his GS record or something, but it is flat out incredible. I don't think anyone will ever break it.

Top 8 is not elite in this sport. It was a very impressive streak but players like Roger are not happy just making the QF's. The QF is usually the first time they are playing a good player in the tournament. 23 straight semis is way more impressive and naturally carries more meaning. A semi can be considered a deep run where a player is close to winning a GS.

It is a helluva streak and what you fail to consider is what an iron-man Roger was to make it.

Nicely pointed out, Deni. What an odd day, though! I'm watching a little of the Murray replay. (I saw nothing but score lines today.)

I am watching the fed replay. It's thing of beauty. Fed has had a few wild shots, but overall, its all about stak.

Tsonga might have torn his LCL (lateral collateral ligament)..or rather tweaked it and ripped a few fibres so not a complete tear..i done mine a while back and it looked the exact area for it..

LCLs can repair itself, also it might need surgery..he could still get about so I think it could be not too bad, (if its torn you don't walk anywhere).

Too bad for Popsicle. Until today, I'd never seen him play. Looks like his game is suited for grass. Big serve and nice net game/touch/hands. I had him penciled in for the next round when he was up 4-1 in the 5th. Then I had to go on a walk-about. Came back and saw that Youzhny ended-up winning. Very surprised...and happy. The Nadal/Federer quarter is a shocker, to say the least. Regardless of who gets through, it'll be a jaw dropper. I'll be pulling for Skeeter (Stakhovsky). Another guy whose game seems to be well-suited for grass.

Just imagine if Djokovic and Murray should happen to lose before the final. Can anyone imagine? Would anyone even watch the final?

Good job by Misha Youzhny, he is definitely in good form. Posisil will have his turn, it is already an achievemt for him to get into the R2 in a slam, I hope this will inspie him going forward.
