I am finding it impossible to locate the women's draw. Would someone please post one? Next time, I suggest we start a thread with the draw as the first entry for easy reference.

Oh Dear,
Genie got beat by someone named Ying_Ying Duan, a qualifier from China.
Really an unranked qualifier?
I'm trying to time when this free-fall began....I'm starting to think it was after she lost Wimbledon. It was almost like that beatdown destroyed all confidence and all swagger:huh:

She lost 12 of last 14 matches.

My husband says Venus looked unwell after her match, and will probably be ousted in the early rounds. Might be reason for withdrawing from doubles.

Serena announced today that after she realized how she (Serena) is playing in the first match, she decided it is better for her to focus on singles.

I saw Serena's announcement and don't quite believe it. We will see if my husband's assessment of Venus' condition is correct

Your husband's assessment is also correct. I saw something to that effect being said by the radio commentary team of Wimbledon.

I remember thinking after Wimbledon if she wouldn't be affected by that utter beatdown. She sounded so full of confidence before the final. It had to be a huge blow to her mentally in how she lost. She made it to the 4th round at the US and then the quarters at the Aussie but then nothing.

Yep I remember thinking the same thing but after Montreal I remember thinking ok it's in her head. A lot of people say it's the publicity. I don't think it is. I think she loves that. I think before Wimbledon she was playing with house money. She was climbing and each successive slam was a step up. At Wimbledon it was like coming to the finish line and then getting absolutely trounced. Doubt crept in and she was no longer playing as just an upstart. She was playing with huge expectations. She realized how hard it can be to win a grand slam final rather than just getting there.

I think her confidence took a hit after that final, but she's drifted into the abyss since she split w/ Saviano.

Genie needs to take time off and do charity work...just to learn to feel for others. She just appears to be very cold and entitled...just soften that hard self absorbed exterior.

I added it to the fashion thread so it could be discussed.
