Federer wins. Flawless victory. FATALITY! -|-\m/-|-

That was quick but also expected, Hanescu is a veteran more reliable on clay.
Next up for Roger, Stakhovsky.

Yeah I like Hanescu. As as Fed fan I like seeing him come through playing well and not really exerting himself but sad to see a veteran get knocked out in round 1 scoring only 5 games. Regarding other veterans, I still fancy Hewitt's chances of beating Wawrinka later.

I picked Wawrinka as my WD, probably I should have changed that after his loss to Mahut, but I am hoping he'll man up for this encounter.
Two more 3 sets winners: Janowicz over yooung brit Edmund and Cilic defeats Baggy.

neither of which is particularly surprising, i guess.

it's funny how Rosol will always get some extra looks, especially in Wimby, for being the guy who took out Rafa. while some of the novelty will fade, i think we'll still be looking at his results with interest/amusement in the coming years. tbh, i still follow Falla's results, even though he stopped well shy of where Rosol went (overall, he's fared better than Rosol nonetheless).

btw, i reckon this point from the very first game probably set the tone for the Fed match.
(actually, i think Fed might have been quite close to reaching over the net with his racquet. cheater!

Marty McFly keeps it close w/ Jo Willy but drops the opening set breaker 7-4. Ernie and ERV are in a 1st set breaker.

Meanwhile Darcis is getting the full Nadal treatment. Endless games, lots of breakpoints and still nowhere. I always wonder how Nadal's opponents mentally prepare for a match. It feels like you have played a full match and the scoreline is 3-3.

How much you wanna bet Nadal's trick shot will be on ESPN's top 10 today?

and Darcis w/ the break, can serve for the set now. FH misfiring, it seems.

as i said, Darcis hits a heavy ball.. saw him live in qualifiers in Vienna a year or two ago. still, there's a reason or two that he's ranked where he is. not the most stable out there.

i doubt that Rafa's "lose the first week first sets" would work at SW19 as well as it had worked at RG, so it's good he broke right back :)

Nadal clears the first.

First set to Darcis.

First set loss in week one continues.

Darcis deserved the first set. Total points won 55 to 48 Rafa.

lol @ the commentators on Radio Wimby - "for Nadal to lose the opening set, as long as it goes past the hour-mark, he probably takes that as a positive".

This might go wrong for Nadal. He is letting Darcis into the match.

Rafa is struggling hitting a forehand when he gets a forehand. Why is that?
