Saw a preview thread last year and enjoyed it. Let it begin! :)

Who are your contenders? Dark horses? Favorites? Predictions?

Nole will be under immense pressure after winning FO and it would be nice if he could match Rafa, Roger, and Bjorn in taking it the same season! I'm not greedy so going out early and coming back strong for the summer tour on HC would be just as satisfying to me; esp. if he's able to capture another USO! Raonic has a new team working for him including McEnroe, so he's my dark horse! Neither Federer or Nadal will play or make the semi's IMO! :dodgy:

Thanks for this A.F. Lots of things to talk about here.

McEnroe will be coaching Raonic. Will that change the equation for him.

Roger will be coming back from injury, this could help Murray.

Rafa may not play.

Nole is holding all the slam titles and making a run at the calendar year grand slam.

Predictions?

I will be interested to see who lands where in the draw, but I'm looking forward to see the next-gens make deeper inroads here.

Barring an upset, I fear we may be watching yet another Djoray final. :cover

Roger is the one to watch not because I think he will win, but will he be ready to try and make a go of it or is the Olympics and the US Open a more realistic goal for him.

Only prediction that I am willing to confidently make is that Milos will not reach finals, let alone win Wimbledon.

To me, it's about time Nole had a pigeon in the final like past champions; say a Goffin, Berdych, or Ferrer! No champion has had it as tough as The Djoker going up against the likes of Roger, Rafa, & Andy as much as him! Federer and Rafa have had their share for Gawd-sake!  :dodgy: :p

He's played Murray in many finals already :cover

He can have a pigeon in the final, but that pigeon will not be Milos.

Nole 2.0 never played an official warm-up event on grass. He only used exhos.
He won 3 titles at SW19 in the process out of 5, so that is 60% conversion. As they say, if ain't broken, don't fix it.

I know Thiem hasn't done much on grass, but maybe a new lease on his game and new ranking might bring confidence to do something.

If Thiem does not win both events on grass in the next two weeks, he will not be ranked in the top 8 for Wimbledon.
That is because he was irrelevant on grass the last two years. He will drop 3 spots (at least), below Berdych, Raonic and Gasquet. I did not count Tsonga's bonus points yet, but that is enough to know that he will be ranked in the 9-12 range for Wimbledon.

I want a murderer final this year :please:

I would rather see Fed in the same half as Novak; might be easier to play him in the SF.

But, it would be nicer if someone else takes out Novak. Given that the last two years he could not get the job done, the chances are he will not do it this year either. Not only that he is not getting any younger, now he has physical issues and he is Fed 3.0 (post surgery fed).

There was a first event on grass this week in Manchester, a challenger.
The winner was Dustin Brown, who we know well, having a 2:0 record on grass against Nadal.
He defeated in the final Lu from Taipei, who also has a good record on grass, defeating Roddick in Wimbledon.

Of the 20 GS finals that Novak played, in 18 of them he faced Roger, Rafa or Andy across the net.
The two exceptions are Tsonga in 08 AO and Stan in RG 15.

The chances that he will face Roger or Rafa in the finals in future is obviously dramatically decreasing every day. While he may continue to face Andy for some more finals, I am very sure that he will get his own fair share of pigeons (I menas pigeons not named Muray) in the near future.

Well at least you know where I'm coming from! Tsonga doesn't count since that was his first major! Stan is better than Andy so Nole's really been put through the ringer to win his titles; bar none! :nono  :cover

Except that of the four Fed finals, in three of them he was dealing with SF (Senile Federer).
