Must have hurt for Ferrer to lose in his first match at Nottingham as the #1 seed! Oh well, why he bothers to even play on the surface is beyond me! I can't remember him doing anything; even with how homogenized and even today's courts obviously are! :puzzled :nono  :dodgy: :cover

1. Nottingham results do not play any role in the determination of seeds.

2. Looks like at this rate you would want most people to stop playing just because they don't have chances of winning the tourney. A tourney needs players other than eventual winner to succeed.
Also, these are professional players. That is what they do. Play tennis and try to go as far as they can. Finally, they do get money and points for going as far as they can go.

Ferrer reached QF at Wimbledon, de3featingmultiple finalist Roddick during that year. He is also 2 time winner on grass in Hertogenbosch event.

So we have:

Djokovic-Nishikori
Wawrinka-Raonic
Murray-Ferrer
Federer-Berdych

Nadal could meet Murray in the quarterfinals.

Let the games begin!

That's a pretty lopsided draw.

Roger's potential path:
R1: Dzumhur
R2: Sisling or Querrey
R3: Sock
R4: Bautista Agut or Lopez
QF: Berdych, Monfils, or Simon
SF: Rafa or Andy, or maybe Tsonga or Ferrer

It looks pretty easy until the QF, although Sock could be interesting for him. QF could be brutal if it is Berdych or Monfils, although I think he'll take Gael at Wimbledon - Berdych is more of a concern.

I got to say, the prospect of one more Rafa-Roger Wimbledon matchup is exciting. On one hand I think Roger could beat Rafa on grass right now, but if Rafa gets to the SF then it means he's playing well and all bets are off.

But this is an almost best-case scenario for Novak, who avoids Andy until the Final. His only real concern would be Nishikori or Cilic in the QF, then one of Wawrinka/Raonic/Kyrgios/Dimitrov in the SF. I don't see any of those guys giving him a problem at Wimbledon unless Cilic channels 2014 US Open or Raonic is serving out of his mind. Even then...

OMG, just took a glance at Nole's section of the draw; landmines from the opening serve with #33 Kolhschreiber in the first round! The section has Janowicz, Tomic, Kokkinakis, and other big servers! This is going to be tough just getting past his first 3 opponents!

Why do I have to be kidding? Jan, Tom, or KOK could get on a serving high/zone and blast Nole right off the court! It can happen! I have faith he'll make it through; just said it would be tough! You think it's a "cakewalk" to another final? I hope you're kidding! Ironic I know! :cover :puzzled :nono

Novak has a tough first couple rounds (as tough as those rounds could be), but really it should be much of a problem, although the toughest opening round. Given this is a grass tournament I think Novak got the best draw of the top 4.

I just saw the draw and had to LMAO because just as I suspected - Murray is NOT in Djokovic's half of the draw.:nono Instead he was miraculously drawn in the same half as Federer and Nadal - and in the same quarter as Nadal. Therefore the Wimbledon official have just handed Djokovic a walk through to the finals and ensure that the possibility that he'll play one of the other 3 big names. Still, this is just like last year when they seeded Murray above Federer even though he was ranked lower and claimed it was a special "grass court-related performances" seeding because he was the defending champion while ignoring the fact that Roger had won 7 times before and has the best record on grass in the history of tennis. Their endless propping up of Murray is always comical because inevitably - he fails. He hasn't beat Djoknovic in 2 1/2 years. He hasn't beat Federer (the "has been" old guy) in 2 years. The only good news for Brits is that he's split the last 4 matches with Nadal - and it's grass...and Nadal sucks right now.:-/ (Leaving aside his recent 250 level tourney win on grass. There was literally no competition at that tournament.)

:laydownlaughing I was just thinking the same thing. Unless Stan Wawrinka makes it to the semis and beats him - I'd be surprised if he even lost a set on the way to the final. Nole's half of the draw is filled with nobodies, wimps (Nishikori) wannabes (Raonic, Kyrgios, Thiem, Tomic, Kokkinakis) and headcases (Dimitrov, Cilic, Wawrinka). Yes, I included Stan in the "headcases" category. Ya just never know which Stan is going to show up.

I agree that it looks pretty decent on paper. If Murray and Nadal play each other in the quarters hopefully it'll go 5 sets and last 11 hours, there'll be lots of rain and they'll have to make a quick turn around and play a fresh Roger the next day. (I kid, I kid).

Seriously - if Roger makes it to the semis and so does Murray or Nadal - there'll be at last 1 intersting semi-final match. The other side of the draw thought? That's going to be a total snooze-fest. Nole vs anybody but Stan is going to be a quick 3 setter unless the other guy is playing way above his usual level of averageness.

What you're implying is draw fixing -- an illegal activity. To accuse the Wimbledon officials of this is libel, which is not allowed on Tennis Frontier.

And besides all that Wimbledon uses a special seeding system so it's no fixed scenario. Assuming Nadal makes it past the nobodies in the early round I suspect it's game over when he meets Murray. Berdych could well spell game over for Roger too.

After a controversy or 2 at the USO during their draw pull, no one should be casting stones! :nono :cover  :dodgy:

Are you aware that Rafa might have to face Dustin Brown in Round 2?
