I see, you were asking about GS. I meant about passing for GOATnes. I dont know for GS, while i belive after retiring all of three Rafa and Novak will pass for GOAT implementing all of that statistics H-H, time interval, GS, Masters, ATP Fianls... and much more.
GOATness? I don't know what that means, but I assume you mean by your subjective measure? That's fine, you're a Novak fine, it's no surprise you would have that opinion

Looks like another Novak/Nadal fan that wants to count MS titles as much as majors ;)

IIRC, Nole was already thought to be ahead of Fedal 2 years ago! He was doing things they hadn't with a Nole-Slam, leading in Masters 1000's, and pumping out record after record winning everything in site! His 2015 will be hard to beat; 3 majors, 6 Masters (8 finals), the YEC, and defeating 30+ top ten players! :yesyes: :p  :ptennis:

Lol! You mean you thought that. Please don't assume that your views are in the consensus. For the record I have always thought that Novak like Roger has dominated the field in a consistent fashion. Kudos to him for that. But it remains a numbers game. He's not there yet, but for sure he could get there. If we make this a qualitative rather than quantitative exercise I have no problem with that. In my opinion, I have never seen tennis as beautiful as what I've seen from Federer. I have not seen tennis played as uniquely and terrifyingly as Rafa. And I have not seen tennis played as faultlessly as from Novak. Folks can talk about Laver if they want, but the reality is we all know given his size that he wouldn't have been up to it against these 3 titans. These are the ones. Take your pick!

^ Give Laver a load of dodgy TUEs and who knows what he'd have been like pumped full of chemicals :D

I said and meant "some" due to this and other sites coming to that consensus! I have it all documented in my blogs so you well know I can back up the statement! People were overconfident in his move up while the Fedal fans were getting nervous! I said what I said! :yesyes:

Now that's probably the worst insult ever directed at me; racial, sexual, or intellectually! :nono:    o_O  :rain: :suicide:

Yes, Fiero. Nobody was ever insulted more than you.

………..Oh, wait, you are even talking like him again.

http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2019...surpass-federer-and-nadal-historically/79436/

Some bold predictions in this article, but the author (Steve Flink), made a decent case for his belief that Djokovic will pass both Nadal and Federer.

It is possible but I find it silly to project total world domination for 2 more years when Djokovic is about to be 32 before the next major. Flink is assuming the next gen continues to suck and that Djokovic continues to be lights out for the foreseeable future. I'm guessing Flink is a massive Djokovic fan? Just asking because I don't read that much tennis.com stuff. I know Tignor is a huge Rafa fan but I applaud him for becoming more neutral in his articles.

Flink has been around for as long as me; going back to the 70's with the tennis boom! He's impartial enough, but as things stand, it looks good for Nole to surpass Fedal! Makes sense to me! I felt the same about Lendl 30+ years ago outdoing McEnroe and Connors even though more popular! :yesyes: :p  :ptennis:

I don't know who Flink is and I don't read tennis.com often either. He did not say the nexgen would continue to suck, he simply gave his timeline. Do you really see them stepping up more quickly?

I don't know when we will see another good young player. I'd have thought one or more would show us something by now. I said it in an earlier thread but the last really good young player the tour has had is Del Po and that's a long time ago.

But even if those guys aren't great for another couple years I think it's rather hopeful to predict Djokovic will have back to back 3 major seasons at age 32-33. I think that's just a knee-jerk reaction to an incredible display last weekend. I think anyone with that much mileage is susceptible to more bad days at the office. Roger is a lot older but do I think he'd have looked so helpless on an average day vs Tsitsipas? No, he just had one of those days where he couldn't do anything right and just looked old as hell on court. Things look great for Novak right now but I wouldn't expect a 2011 or 2015 type season, especially back to back. He will have similar bad days with some shock losses here and there.

I think it was @mrzz who put up a post on another thread about people (I include sportswriters here) projecting the future from what they just most recently watched. This is an important point. Even Flink is trying to say that Novak is playing the best tennis of his life. Well, in the final. But not exactly across the fortnight, and he had some shocking losses at the end of last year. I agree with you that it presumes a lot out of Novak that he'll pass Roger. Of course, the case can be made, which I think is what Flink is doing. Everyone has column inches to fill. But it does presume that the up-and-coming crop will have too little to say about it. While Novak went on his 2-year walkabout, the youngsters did get better. And they've proven they can pip him on occasion, already. Plus, as you say, Darth, post-30/32 (which Novak will be by RG,) everyone is more susceptible to more bad days at the office. Who knows when the next motivation sink will come? Or, god forbid, injury? It is possible that Novak maintains the level he played that final at for some long time in the future. But is it likely? I'm not wishing him ill, but it is rather funny that our imaginations often extend only as far as the last Major final that we watched.

Novak lost to as many as three different youngsters at the end of last season (and this is after finding his mojo). So, I don't think Novak will have a dominant year like 2011 or 2015. He will be prone to upsets (yes, even in slams).

Ideal situation would be for Novak to take out Ralph in RG and couple of random youngsters taking out Nole at Wimby and USO.

Fed should win Wimby and an youngster should win USO.

p.s. This is not what I predict will happen, this is what I wish to happen.

Obviously we can see it's what you wish to happen....whatever, what a obsession with Nadal you have but if you are dreaming with another win of Federer in Wimbledon then..... wake up!
