Riot, I understand what you are saying and I agree with you. People are always vested in one person or another, it is normal that our player gives us grief more than any other. I guess that was the point of the thread.

Who knows what Kieran had in mind when creating this topic, you never know with him.:D

It was all purely benign, promise! ;)

I think it's fair if you pick even a ledge like Djoker. Our favourite players run us through the mill so often too...

It isn't why Kieran created the thread, but conversations can derail.

Monfils really annoys me a lot. Not emotionally, he is just plain awful to watch in my opinion. I don't enjoy matches that should be routine straight set affairs turned into 5 sets of absolute garbage, where the player just baffles you.

The question is who hurts you more, no one really gives me more fits than Novak, it is what is. I wasn't trying to say that it's because he hasn't fulfilled his potential, but sometimes his matches frustrate me, especially the last couple slam finals before wimbledon, when he didn't play up to the level he is capable of.

This is the point exactly. Thanks RB.

Alright, I hear you boys, though it does seem a bit petulant, and unappreciative.

...or it could be an honest statement of who I am most emotionally invested in, and thus when he doesn't play well, it is the most frustrating. I don't blame novak, at least not inordinately. I understand it's normal for even great players to have some let downs, but when novak has a letdown it bothers me far more than a player I don't care about.

Once again RB, feel the same way. Well said.

You were thinking outside of the box, RB…that's cool! I was thinking of the underachievers who frustrate us, but Kieran did write "hurt," and you're right…it's our favorites who have the best chance of really getting at our emotions. Even sometimes when they win, they make us suffer for it. :snigger Anyway, your response was heartfelt, and I appreciate it. (Just had to get my own head out of the box.)

Everybody suffered during the matchplay of this years FO final, only Novak fans suffered at the end. Everybody I think enjoyed the wimbledon final (overall), if not the result.

^ SF at the AO this year and QF at the French Open and current world number 5. I'd say he's just about where he's always been. His current ranking is the highest he's been.

For me it's other tennis players (not Murray) getting higher in the rankings from here.
