Nadal was a 26 year old man who, when forced on the sidelines, was the number 2 player in the world and reigning FO champion. He has been playing consistently great tennis for years. As such, 7 months aren't going to make him forget how to play the game, even if he recaptured his form far quicker than any of us could have anticipated.
Comparing that, to players in their 30's coming back from a retirement that lasts over a year (or more), who happen to be inferior players than Nadal to begin with, not nearly in good enough shape, have suffered worse injuries, etc... is dubious at best.
