I just have to reply this long comment from tented addressed to me
Your comment appeared right after I had commented tossip and although no names were mentioned it was obvious to whom "the relevant Maria fans are frustrated to no end because she can't beat Serena." referred to - It's not like this site is packed of Maria fans - Less than the fingers of one hand is my guess - Also you have no way to know how frustrated these few Maria fans on this site are - it's just an empty assumption aimed to hurt - a condescending comment - Also - which of these very few Maria fans write insulting comments about Serena here? - In your dreams maybe
You have got to stop personalizing this. My original post was in response to Moxie, not you. Nor were you named. Nor was anyone else named. Nor was there ever any reference to Maria fans writing insulting comments about Serena. You're making this up. My comment was a generalized one, referring to my personal perception of certain Sharapova and Serena fans in general, which goes beyond this website.
As for attacking other userS - You're just fantasizing - The only person I've attacked is - wait for it - wait for it - yeah right tossip - As far as I can see I've never attacked another user but tossip
If you had bothered to take the links which I provided above, you would have seen that they don't only involve one person. So, no, I'm not fantasizing.
As I've said - Why do you mods think supporters of tennis players will stand idle when ONE person continually posts insulting comments about various tennis players and you guys just let it happen? - Enough is enough!! - No other user but tossip has this disturbing kinda behavior - Your eyes are not that open as your think!
Yes, enough is enough. If you don't like what someone has to say about Sharapova then don't read their posts. It's that simple. Put them on your ignore list.
This isn't MariaSharapova.com. This isn't SerenaWilliams.com. We're not here to cater to only one fan base, nevertheless one or two individuals within a certain fan base. It is unrealistic for someone to expect pure love and admiration of their favorite on a 365/24/7 basis on a website designed to discuss all players.
Would you expect, say, the film review site Rotten Tomatoes not to allow negative comments about actors and actresses, for fear of offending those entertainers' fans? Absolutely not. If someone doesn't want to read anything critical about Angelina Jolie, then they shouldn't be there; they should go to AngelinaJolie.com.
Referring to the ATP forum and how tennis players are getting insulted all the time there does NOT make it right - It is NOT acceptable that ONE person on the WTA forum makes other users feel harassed on a regular bases - Why should the ATP forum be the default standard for this forum? - Supporters of tennis players don't come to a forum to have their favorite player insulted on a personal level - Like how ugly they look or how bad they are between the sheets - It IS a personal insult to the supporters as well because what such an insult really says is that the supporter is a moron to support this particular player - What other intention can an insult of a tennis player have but to hurt the fan? - It can be considered as virtual hooliganism - Maybe you're to blunt to realize that but that is how it is
I referred to the ATP Forum as a demonstration of how things are on this site in general, and not just particular to the WTA Forum. We have always allowed people to make comments, flattering and unflattering, about players. That's simply the way it is, and the way it will be. It's a level of freedom of speech which we're permitting.
You're upset because we allow people to say things which you don't like about your favorite, but there would be people upset if we didn't allow it. We're not going to satisfy everyone -- obviously -- but we're trying to accommodate as many as possible.
To state that it is not anyones business what you mods do or not do is disrespectful for the users of this site - Of course it is our business if we feel uncomfy because ONE user behaves inappropriate on a regular basis and of course you founders just can not ignore complains - Note that this isn't an isolated event but that tossip makes these comments time after time and he always seems to get away with it - Not only that - he also seems to have your blessing to do so for some reason - I'm sure my complaint was not the only one considering tossip just maybe the most stubborn one - If this site can not take care of the few who are not Serena fans then your site will end up as an altar to Serena - Is that what you really want or do you wanna cherish other kinda type of supporters as well that's the question? - And although your policy to say nothing about the actions you've taken is correct - we users can notice what happens or rather NOT happens and who you mods point out as trouble makers and who goes shot free
I have no idea why you wrote the first few sentences of this paragraph, considering everything I actually had to say on this subject is what you then go on to agree with at the end of the paragraph.
Last but not least - this isn't about tossip only but also criticism about this site's policy to deal with this kinda users - Maybe that's why you became so defensive tented? - Doesn't this site have lotsa personal with flashy titles just to see to it that we users feel good and comfy here? - We users are not here for your convenience - it's the other way around - at least it should be! - But hey - if you feel that the founders should manage this site like they see fit and the hell with complaining users - If you founders want to turn around this back to me the complainer and how I cause the problem and how I make your moderator's life miserable - that's OK by me - I just wanna know where I stand that's all and you've made this perfectly clear tented - Thank you for your enlightening comment
This is all very simple: We allow all users to make comments on all players. They're all allowed, unless they contain obscenities, or words/phrases which are racist, misogynistic, or homophobic. What we don't allow are personal attacks on other users. Those are the rules.
Now, that's enough of this. Moxie and I have made our thoughts and positions on all of this extremely clear, and you've made yours clear, too. The only reason we've even done it publicly is to serve as an informational guide to all users concerning our rules, and why we do and do not do various things, and why certain things are and are not allowed. If you have anything else to say, send me a PM. Enough time has been spent discussing this publicly with one user.
As stated before, if someone has an issue they would like to discuss, please send me or any of the other mods a PM, and we will be happy to discuss it with you in a private, confidential manner. We do not divulge anything you have to say with other users, so feel free to be as open and honest as possible.
