Venus and Serena made me an ardent fan especially Venus...will never forget the way she celebrated when she won..with so much joy..something I had never seen on tennis court.I actually hated Serena when she mercilessly beat Venus in all those finals.I think I came to like Serena when she mowed through the draw at AO07...that year I became a fan.
Serena is very rich and will never finish that money in her lifetime..over $100 mil for a single woman is too much...never cared for pova just dont see the talent..all I see is hype hype and more hype thats.

It is interesting to note that tossip has "liked" a few of your last complaint posts to me, citing him as the problem. Our approach is to overall fairness. We are not afraid or reluctant to deal with problems, but we deal with them in time, and in our way. If you don't like it, you have recourse, and one is complain here on the boards, which you are availing yourself of. Do remember that if it's fair for you to complain, it's fair for someone else to, as well. Managing everyone's complaints is not a perfect science, but we do have a lot of experience with general crabbiness. You are not the first, and you will not be the last person who moans about fairness, with no real concept of what we deal with, trying to give you a forum.

Trust me, our eyes are wide open. And not just mine and Moxie's; this is true of all of the mods. You claim tossip "always starts the arguments." While it's true you don't attack Serena, you do have a documented history of attacking other users, thus making you as guilty of starting arguments as you claim others to be. For example:

It has never been, nor will it ever be, our policy that comments about the players are to be interpreted as personal insults to their fans. Look at the ATP Forum: there are countless examples of users making unflattering (to put it mildly) remarks about various players, and no one interprets them as being personal insults, nor has anyone ever suggested they be treated as such.

How ironic that you would suggest there should be consequences for these insulting remarks about players, which should be seen as the equivalent of calling a user a moron, when it is you who has exhibited such behavior, as demonstrated above. Should you, therefore, be "dealt with accordingly"?

I'll also add that it isn't anyone else's business what we do with various users. We don't announce that someone has been given an official warning, or has been temporarily banned because that's a private matter between the admins/mods and those users. So while it may look like nothing is being done with a certain user, it would be incorrect to assume that nothing is actually being done. Just as I'm sure you wouldn't want us to broadcast any difficulties we may be having with you, we don't do that with others, either.

If anyone thinks a post is inappropriate report it. While we try to read through every post, in every thread, in every forum, I'm sure there are some which are missed. Don't assume that just because a post/thread has been around for a while that we approve of its content. That may be true, but it may not be. That's why we have the system in place to report posts. If you alert us to one, then you can be certain someone will review it, thus eliminating any doubt as to whether or not it has even been read, nevertheless approved of.

If anyone has a more general comment/complaint, which isn't specific to a single post/thread, then send one of the admins/mods a PM, and let us know. We will be more than happy to discuss it, and it will remain a private conversation.

If any of you don't like what a user is posting about your favorite player, then either quit reading that person's posts, or put that user on your ignore list, which will guarantee your not having to read them anymore since they will be filtered out.

Finally, everyone needs to keep in mind that when you make comments about players which can clearly be interpreted as rude, insulting, derogatory, or provocative, then you better be ready to receive responses which are in the same tenor as yours -- and not complain about it.

That said, this IS what tented and I were complaining about in this thread: there is all too much personal insult and gossip thrown around from both sides, and all too little talk about tennis. If you agree with that, then I challenge you to be part of the solution, and not part of the problem. And don't blame the folks who give you a venue to discuss these things. Our community can only be as good as those who participate. (And there are many good ones who do.)

I don't think tented or I have been defensive, only explanatory. Not every member is going to be pleasing to every other, but we have told you what the policies are. Forums require a certain amount of tolerance, including on the part of the members. We have explained your resources. We make every effort at creating a forum for good and reasonable conversation. It is offered for your use. However, we DO manage it as we see fit. There is no "to hell with complaining users." I have to object to that notion. A lot of work goes into maintaining these forums in a cordial and considered way. If you don't care for it, we can't do any more to make you happy. There is an out-door, and you're welcome to use it. However, if you want to stay in the conversation, take some responsibility for your part in the community. We're committed to taking ours. We created this website to foster it. I am a "she" not a "he," btw, but no matter. The discussion I had with tossip re: Ashe was about race, but I defy you to call it "racist," at least on my part. I was challenging tossip on the notion that Ashe's widow was dissing the Williams sisters. You can re-read it here:

All I mean is that the argument was about racism - I've read the discussion and I know that you've challenged tossip - All I'm saying is that you too had a long discussion with him about one of his disturbing comments

I don't see why disturbing topics should be shunned. If it took time to make my point, then it was worth it, and I don't see that there is a time-limit on making a valuable point. If you're arguing the difference between my conversation with him and the various and sundry cheap shot one-remark posts against him, I think you have your answer. There is no comparison.
