It might actually be an important tournament to assess where Rafa's at. The big question is whether his late 2015 gains were sustained or whether he's slipped back. After his first round loss at the AO, the jury is out. He's 4-2 on the year, but 0-2 vs. top 50 opponents (Verdasco and Djokovic).
Still, we're only a few months removed from the World Tour Finals, and he did beat Ferrer, Wawrinka, and Murray there.
If I'm a Rafa fan I'm very anxious about this upcoming clay season, because it really could make or break his career.
