You're lucky that I did not have the time to explain what happens to him in prison.

And you are lucky that you are hidden behind the computer and not in front of me :emperor:

Like many of mrzz's posts, this was satirical, but you seem to take it as an insult to Rafa.

I knew that it was satirical, how can I take those kind of comments seriously? so my answer was also satirical, it's the best way (I think)

He'll start losing more and more, will fall beyond #100 in some months, and after struggling to win challengers he will be caught bribing an umpire. He will lose his temper and attack and ATP person, ending up in prison. His money will be made unavailable due to the investigations that will be taking place at the time, and his bail will be payed by Federer, who will cry on a press conference saying "I did it for the sport, but he is a great man, and no one should put his titles on doubt because of all of this."

I wouldn't joke about rape, but your post before that is pure gold. Props.

Did not happen and even if it did, does not make much of a difference because it would have been obtained due to Ferrer's absence and not because he played well

Also, it does not make any different whether he is #7 or #8 for the purposes of seeding at USO.

If only all those times other guys got to higher rankings due to Nadal's absence didn't make much of a difference.

The voices of doom for Nadal need to rememeber that Nadal was not able to have a proper training block in the off-season before this year. This is absolutely massive in the context of his season. I think we need to see how he looks next year if he is able to get in a proper off season training period.

You don't havet o look too far back to see the importance of the off season. Federer has said that he was not able to train properly in the off season before his 2013 year, and that he never really recovered from this all year. We all know how Fed's 2013 went. Then he had a good off season and his 2014 was a revelation in comparison.

Likewise, Andy Murray was not able to train properly in his 2013-14 off season because he has just had the back operation. And he was like a different player in 2014. Then he gets in proper off season training - and now he's back being an elite player again.

So I really don't think we can judge Rafa until the 2016 season is over, but if he can stay healthy enough to have a proper off season, I think he will surprise a lot of people with his level in 2016.

All this crap about Nadal 'lacking confidence', Nadals decline has nothing to do with it. It's pyhsicallity, intensity, and losing his incredible ability to focus. He cares less than he used to. That and the yips and his wta serve. So much problems in fact that I am pretty sure we won't see him win a slam again.

Nadal's decline, originally, has nothing to do with confidence. I mean if everything is fine confidence is not going to disappear on its own. It's more about the factors you mentioned. But let's think logically for a second: How can you lose physicality, intensity, ability to focus, serve, forehand, etc... and NOT lose confidence?

He played the big points terribly today. That's not always a result of him being slower or whatever. I mean, he was winning points just fine for the first two sets. Then when things got interesting, he was extremely nervous. That is a direct result in losing so much (abilities and matches), so you no longer have confidence that you're going to win these points.

Two things: 1. I was referring to the lack of confidence argument as an explanation for his losses. As you say, it's the other way around. 2. The confidence thing didn't appear to be a factor in his peak either, saying before a fed RG final that it's going to be a tough match for sure and federer is the greatest ever doesn't really show for a lot of confidence.

Well, the "confidence" issue is a vicious cycle. Once you lose confidence, you lose more matches and then you lose more confidence and it spirals up.

Nadal actually has struggled with confidence in the past when things went south. The second half of 2009 is an obvious example. But he had the tools to shake it off. Now he doesn't. And obviously, things weren't really nearly as bad as they are now.

Also, don't take Nadal's comments pre a Fed match for face value. Nadal definitely entered those RG finals with a ton of confidence. I'm sure he got nervous before the match, which explains the sort of statements he makes to take pressure off himself, but nerves and confidence are not always the same.

In the greater scheme of things confidence means very little. Hewitt may assure himself he's going to beat a player like Djokovic, yet he will lose. You need a game and focus first and much more so than confidence.
