But it would be great material for a season or 2, no?

It's too soon now, but one day someone should film a biography of Serena. There's a ton of material there for a great movie.

That's what really helped Bencic these last 2 weeks. Every time her coach came out, she played better. I don't know what these crutches will do when the slams roll around.

Players are allowed to bring notebooks on court, right? So they could refer to them during changeovers, instead of actual coaching.

I thought I heard As the World Turns was interested in her fulltime after she retires. :laydownlaughing

lol Whoever marries Serena would have to be a soap opera fan. There's probably a drama/crisis a day. Dated a girl like that once. Pure exhaustion at the end of the day. :cover
But I bet life was interesting!

6-3 first set. Let's see if Cahill comes out and coaches Simona. Will she change her tactics?

He did, so you got that part right. Now we'll see if she changes tactics.

They could. And that's actually the old school way that most players don't use.

I remember Serena used to do that for a while, way back when. She'd be flipping through her little notebook during changeovers.

I wonder where her confidence in the serve has been this week?

It's very Jekyll and Hyde with Serena lately. If she's serving, it's Ms. Hyde; if she's returning, it's Dr. Jekyll.

In fact, didn't Patrick find her notebook in a cab in London, and that's how their partnership began? Or was that a rumor?

She did change her tactics a bit. She got more 1st serves in and she varied her return position a bit and kept the balls deep. That gave her a look at breaking.

Who knows with her, but she should take solace going into the open that she made the semis of Toronto and so far a final appearance off crappy play for the most part. Serve getting much better though despite the nerves.

Tactics? Isn't that basically what's she's always trying to do and it isn't always clicking?

She's understandably relying on her serve a lot, hence the aces and DFs, as well as the added tension when she's serving vs. receiving.

I hate on court coaching. I think very poorly of the players that use it. Figure it out on your own or don't bother playing the match.

I am so with you on this.
