There are 6 cases in Russian, 7 in Serbian. Latin ablative covered Serbian instrumental and locative, so they had 6 as well. For example, this is how you change Nadal in Serbian:

Nominativ "Nadal"
Genitiv "od Nadala" ( from Nadal)
Dativ "Nadalu" (to Nadal)
Akuzativ "Nadala" (who or what you see? Nadal)
Vokativ "hej Nadal" (hey Nadal)
Instrumental "sa Nadalom" (with Nadal)
Lokativ "o Nadalu" (about Nadal)

Above is singular, you have another set for plural.
that IS difficult - in german - which i studied basic so long ago --

it is difficult enough to have only 4 cases,
nominativ, dativ, akuzativ and genitiv...oh my goodness. no wonder russian or slavic is often mis-translated in meaning and intent by english media...like when putin described trump as ''colorful"

and western media say ''PUTIN LIKES TRUMP - PUTIN THINKS TRUMP IS A GENIUS". TO smear putin and trump...lol.

when in fact all putin was saying that 'colorful' to russians or slavics, merely means a person is acting rather ''theatrically'' and does NTO mean anywhere near ''friend, or genius, or intelligent" ...just a POLITE way by putin of saying that

someone is making a show of himself. lol.

I don't know for the others , but I didn't feel any pain, despite my friend @broken_shoelace explaining to me that Olympic gold is above everything else and with 2 golds Murray is already a GOAT.;) I only hoped he'll be able to play soon and defend his #1.

what i meant by ''pain'' of course is that nole makes his career - for himself of course -- but always with that background that he is also doing it for his people -- and that to him every success is another step to do something - as he said in his words many years ago:

"|i want to show i also have some quality -- and that my people and country are not the bad things written about in the west".

As far as I am concerned he should stop feeling under obligation to represent me or Serbia or Serbian nation or anyone else, but to shut the f... up and focus on tennis for as long as he can play. That must be something that Srdjan seeded in his head that he is obliged to represent entire nation, imagine that. That must be huge and unnecessary pressure.

I like watching the youngsters push through.... and we've got a big bunch on the fringes... they feed on each others success, so i'm expecting a lot of breakouts in the next 18 months.

exactly.

for me -- this is CORE of being a tennis fan, u know?
IT'S ALL GOOD when we latch onto a favorite - and one reason is as good as any...

but it's also exciting to keep an eye on the up and comers and see who's going to develop well and how they meet their challenges.
btu what's good is when these youngsters SHOW that they WANT this thingie..go out there , have fun, do their best, and learn as much as they can and NOT be afraid of the big names. .go for it, kiddo!!

The sport needs it too. There's going to be a huge vacuum when Nadal and Federer hang up their sticks. Djoker and Murray will still be around for a bit, but then we kind of hop over the intermediate generation and hope the young guns fill the void. It's got to be said that the 23-28 age group is pretty uninspiring and haven't stepped up to the plate. These kids need to take the bull by the horns.

I really, really, really hate Nadal's odd wide positioning on the ad court. He serves so much better to the ad side since he can use his slider out wide and occasionally go up the T as a mix-up, but that position he now employs takes away all of that, and all he can do is body serve which makes him so predictable and gives him even fewer cheap points.

He's moving well but I'm not feeling the rally forehand at all. The draw has opened up for him but I can't see him beating the big guns playing like this. When he won the US Open in 2010 and 2013, two things really stood out: His serve was clicking in both years, and the surface was eating up his cross court forehand. This doesn't seem to be the case this year.

Hermine (now it become a hurricane) is going to hit and crossing the north of Florida and then probably going to the Carolines and on Monday will be close the NY if it not changes the direction before. Crossing fingers that it will move more to the east and getting lost in the Atlantic :yesyes:

I haven't seen him play yet at the USO, but despite a decent run at the Olympics, his rally forehand lacked zip and his shots weren't getting the depth and penetration in Rio.
