Right, Roger better be on court in 15 minutes or I'm going to bed.

I still don't see how you think that Canada is exactly the touchstone of disaster. If the back was going to go, why only Canada and not Cincinnati? Roger says it's not his back, but lack of preparation. But if the back had gone in Cincy, he'd be worse off.

He went to a much slower and weaker tournament without practice. The result was he was hitting poorly, playing longer points, longer matches, and getting moved around a lot more than he had all year. He practices and plays in one of his strongest tournaments which is very fast and chances are his back doesn't give out. And Roger is lying about it being lack of preparation, he is never going to let on how bad his back is while he is still in the tournament.

Not sure who else missed the point, except for you.

Point is, we all cry for Rafa to stand closer to the baseline when returning, but every time he does, he misses badly and is clearly uncomfortable. Meanwhile, standing back leads to short returns and easy put aways.

The point wasn't about Rafa fans... it was about Rafa's awful return game.
But you made it a dialogue with Rafa fans, so what are we supposed to take away? I get the point. It's not so difficult to parse out. Not even especially clever.

Bad news: they have to clear out the day session and then let in all of the night session fans. This is going to take at least 45 minutes.

Come on, Moxie, you're better than that. Don't be like Carol. We can all tell Roger is talking bs to the media and know what our eyes tell us. His back is not in good nick clearly, despite the blatant lies he's spouting to the press. He's tentative moving to his right on running forehands, hitting balls miles long, netting easy shots, serving 100mph a lot of the time and often not moving for balls.

It's a case of both lack of prep and back injury, mostly back related but because he was trying to recover due to his f**k up by playing Montreal, he was unable to get in adequate practice. It come comes down to his back being the common denominator for him playing like crap since Montreal. As Darth said, worst choice of his career and you can see the look of disgust on Mirka's face every time they zoom in on her.

Actually, I know you said it's obvious his back is fubar so it's cool :)

Grrrr, well, I'm up now so might as well see what his back is like tonight. Either that or go to bed to wake up to the inevitable loss.

I reckon if Roger had stuck to his usual preparation and committed to just playing Cinci and the USO, there's a good 90% chance he'd be fine now. What he did by opting to play Montreal at the last minute with no practice since Wimbledon was flat out retarded. Mentioned it before and I'll say it again, it's like going to the gym and going straight for your max on a compound lift like bench press, squat or deadlift with zero warm up. Dumb and asking for trouble. He should be disgusted with himself.

^ exactly, worst case scenario is he loses early in Cincy and goes into USO light on prep. He'd still have been clear favorite. Best case scenario is he wins at one of his strongest tournaments over a depleted field and enters the USO as the heavy favorite.

Biggest mistake of his career, but that's not saying much because he really has never messed up his schedule before aside from maybe playing Toronto and Cincy in 2014.

Well, definitely doesn't look as stiff and rigid as last match but could get worse as the match goes on. Looking pretty much ok for now though which makes me more confident to wake up to see a W hopefully.

No you're being too sensitive and misreading me. I totally believe that Rog had probs with the back, and that he's having some problem now...back or whatever. And like you, I believe it's his back, and he's trying to play it down. Calling it lack of preparation. My only question is why would it be that he fucked up by playing Montreal, when if he'd skipped it, he still could have wrenched it in Cincy? Maybe more time to get in shape, I can see that, but if he'd done it in Cincy, he would be even in worse shape, as far as I can see. Just wondering why Darth is blaming it all on the decision to play Rogers Cup. I think you see what I mean.

Apparently he looked fine first set vs Dr. too. And in the first round he was deadly in the 3rd set seemingly out of nowhere and then quickly lost it by the start of the 4th
