if fed does indeed have any health issues i dont even see him making it to play kyrgios. i dont expect much from fed for the rest of the year tbh i think he was hella fresh the first half of the year and as he himself has said its hard to keep that going esp at his age. i could be wrong ofc (hopefully i am lol) but ya

^ He could make it to face Kyrgios even if he's still not 100% but that'd be the end of the line. We will see pretty quickly how his back is. If he was playing a total nobody in round 1 it wouldn't tell us much.

As for the rest of the year it is about his health, he's plenty fresh for it. If the back is right he should do well everywhere.

If the back is still bothering him, I agree, Nick could get him. If he's OK, maybe we finally get the Fedal match at the USO we've been hoping for. That's my wish, and I give Rafa a decent chance to win it.

If Fed's healthy I like his chances of winning the tourney if he gets by Nick. And on paper he should dominate the Fall season. Either way I think Fed wins 1 of the next 2 USO's, this is the slam he's clearly underachieved at with the ridiculous losses to Del Po, Nole, and Berd from 09-12

Wow, you have really taken this new Fed on board. I like your optimism. "One of the next 2." Even with 5 wins you consider him "underachieving" at the USO. Spoken like a true Fed fan.

It took a whole 1 second on google to find out.

Edited to upload a better quality clip.

That's the clip that Carol posted. I didn't find anything on the internet about Rafa having a knee problem. In fact, Rafa stated recently [during the FO] that he hasn't had any knee problems since 2014 [or 2015].

On another site, a fan asked if it's true that Rafa may have a knee injury. Maybe he heard McEnroe.

I'll start worrying if Rafa holds an unscheduled presser.:cheerleader:

I don't think it's a news flash that Rafa's knees hurt. That's a chronic condition. But he's been saying for ages that they are manageable, feeling OK, and I'm hoping that's where he is.

News flash? LOL
No, I was looking to see if there was a report of an injury. Since there was none, I left it at that.

I'm really just speaking in general terms. Same as you, I found no reports. I'm going with @kskate2's assessment of P-Mac's trolling of Rafa's knee.

I was just having a good laugh about your "news flash" sentence. I found it hysterical.:lulz2:

I have a hard time believing that he'd do what he did to block either/both of Fedal in points. I'm sure he was really, really hoping to play. But, as someone here pointed out, having seen what a good draw he'd gotten, and given the number of points he has to defend the rest of the year, if he was that close to healthy on Thursday, one would have thought he'd have given it a go. Even he admits that he's been getting different advice from different specialists. We might say that he owes his first loyalty to his own career, but it's hard not to think that he owes something to the tournament and the game, so his decision feels pretty hard to defend. If he couldn't face a really fortuitous draw on Sat., I'm not sure what he thought he was capable of on Thursday.

I can't stand Murray, but I don't think he "owes" anything to this particular tournament, or the game. Seems as though some persons are upset with Murray because his (late) withdrawal from the tournament resulted in a sabotage of a Nadal vs. Federer final.

Um, but it did, which, my point is, was hard on the tournament. I already said he owes the most to his own career, and clearly I like him more than you do. But can you not see that most of us are wondering how he couldn't come to this decision on Thursday? Personally, I hope that Rafa and Roger finally meet at the USO, and I don't care if it's the SF. But this is my home-town tourney, and it would have generated a lot more interest if they were on opposite sides. There's no telling that either or both will make the SF/F, but...still. I think you can see the difference.

So, because Murray waited until Thursday to withdraw, you're saying that Murray intentionally sabotaged the US Open? This is just me, but I don't care whether or not Nadal and Federer ever meet at the US Open, at any stage. You basically admitted that you're biased because 1) Your tennis world revolves around the Nadal/Federer narrative and 2) The US Open is your hometown tourney/major. I do admit that a potential Nadal/Federer final would generate a heck of a lot of interest, but...So what? Things don't always work-out as we'd like. If I had my way, even though no one would watch it, Youzhny and Fabio would play in the final.
I do agree, however, that most tennis fans would love to see a Nadal/Federer match-up, especially in the final.

In that point I agree with you. First I don't see so big deal with Muzz withdrawn, he probably felt well until he started to feel some pain but unfortunately after the draw was done. And same with Roger-Rafa match-up and not because I expect a win by Roger but because I hope to watch a very different Nadal than these last tournaments, to see him in the final and to win it doesn't matter against how, Roger or Perico el de los Palotes

Hey, Haychew if your guy can get past Birdman, he will have a crack at Rafa. Remember the fireworks at USO by your guy sometime ago.

Thanks GSM, but I'm a pessimist. I don't expect either F3 or Dr.Y to get past R2, if that.

I don't think that Murray sabotaged the USO or even ruined it. I'm sure you can read, if you care to, so I won't repeat my points. I know you mis-typed, but by waiting until Saturday to withdraw, I think that Murray came to a not entirely surprising decision 36-48 hours too late for what would have been better for all concerned. That said, it'll still be fun.

I think Fabio has a solid shot at getting to Rafa, but I don't think he'll take him out. This isn't 2015. But Fognini does seem sturdier to me than in the past.
