I'll be brave and pick Stan. Djoke's shoulder injury might flare up.

Stan's always capable of beating anyone, hitting screaming winners that players don't even move to get back, but with this dream draw and time to heal, Nole's gotta suck it up and win this thing in 4! He's capable of completing another matching record of 3 Majors in a season; Roger at 3 fantastic seasons with added sweetener of completing a Nole-Slam & CGS! :dodgy: :clap - - http://fiero4251.blogspot.com/2016/08/fan-page-novak-nole-djokovic.html - - :eyepop :p

Who knows. They haven't played all year. Novak won their last two, at Paris and Cincinnati. Stan won their last Slam matchup, 2015 French Open final. Either way it should be a good one.

Exactly. There is none seemingly or else multiple. Must be some hampering injury anyway.

I tend to believe Stan is the one player that has the match on his racket against the top guys. Power changes everything. If he is on and can sustain it, he wins. How often is he on, that is a different story. Novak seems to be dealing with some issues even though he only played what, a match and a half?
I am giving this to Stan if it goes long . Normally it would be the other way. Or Novak in 3.

With Stan having played quite well since the middle of the second set in his semi final and Novak's level of play and fitness still being a bit of a question mark this match has the potential to be quite interesting. In my opinion the court is fairly neutral for their matchup as it probably is a bit faster than Stan and a bit higher bouncing than Novak would like so the surface shouldn't favor anybody.

If the conditions will be as hot and humid as yesterday Stan probably needs to take the first set to have a chance as he might not have enough energy left for another comeback from a set down then.

Also at the two slams he won Stan played very well in QF and final but was somewhat struggling in the semi final each time, so it will be interesting to see if he is capable of two great performances in a row.

Considering the effort both needed to invest to reach the final Novak should have an advantage physically if it is a long match, so Novak in four seems like the most likely result.

It should be Novak. I'm not convinced he's carrying any serious injury. Pete used to hobble around the court when he was under pressure, the old wounded bear act, until it got to 4-4, then blam! He'd strike, break, then hold to love. Players fell for it every time. Murray fell for it with Novak a couple years ago in the Oz final, he's up 2-0 in the third, Novak looks like death warmed up - Andy won only one more game.

It's a good act, and a fair one.

But even withstanding all this, he's better than Stan, in better form, and he's alert to Stan's danger to him.

Only problem for Novak is a serious lack of matchplay. Beating JJ, the Brit #4, and Monfils, doesn't add up to "matchplay..."

Djokovic really has to win this to keep reignite the momentum for 17 and I think he does in 4. I like Stan here and i like how he should be playing loose, but Novak is rested and when all is said and done, is the better player.

I feel like over the last three years, this has been the story before every stan-novak match up and they are almost always super close, highly competitive affairs.

I picked Novak and five, but Stan can beat Novak, even if he is playing well.

I feel like I am in the movie "the Dark Knight" listening to Commissioner Gordon explaining that Batman(Christian Bale :clap) is not the hero that we may want but for now he is the hero we need. Stan is "our" Dark Knight"!

If he is playing well, Stan is simply one of the more difficult matchups for Novak. Stan has a very good 2nd serve, so Novak has a tougher time dictating off the return than against most other opponents and is one of the few players who can hold his own from the baseline once a rally is neutralized.

Also while Stan's return usually is a weakness in his game for some reason his slice returns often work better in neutralizing Novak's serve than those of most players who are better returners on paper. So Novak serving comparatively slow during recent weeks could even help him in the matchup against Stan as it might lead to different patterns than usual.

Of course if Stan doesn't play at a very high level he gets outclassed against a Novak that is playing solid most of the time but if he does, and he tends to do that once he gets far in an event, he's definitely dangerous even if Novak plays reasonably well.

Djokovic in a thrilling five-setter...because I want Djokovic to win, and in dramatic fashion.

I want Stan to win. I just don't see it happening. It will make his legacy a lot more interesting if he grabs this title- take him out of his slightly higher performing Roddick status and get him closer to a Murray level.

I'll be brave and say Djokovic in 4. I don't think he will underestimate Stan, and he will want to save face after weak Wimbledon and Olympics performances.

Not much will save face after how his draw panned out lol. It's laughable how easy this has been for Novak if he wins. On the contrary, if he loses, he should be pretty ashamed and rightly gutted as draws don't get any easier than this, ever.

Stan finally looks hungry again after some dismal matches this year. I think he wants it and I believe he will get it. Novak is not his normal dominant self and everyone knows it. The problem is, not everyone can take advantage if he's off tomorrow, but Stan can. Stan in 4.

Rumour is there was a heist in the Roland Garros museum yesterday and that a helicopter from Paris has been spotted in New York. Stan, it's time...Unleash THE shorts.
