Holy Moley! I've never seen RBA play this level. Takes the 2nd set 6-4. Djoko gets warning for racket abuse.

Choker at USO strikes again ;)

Exactly what choker are you talking about? Djokovic has been in final after final at the USO, escaping Roger twice in a couple of thrilling matches for the ages recently; saving 2 MP's in the 5th set! His only losses have been to the other Big 4 and one zoned in Kei! It's not like he's losing in the 3rd round after being up 2 sets to love and serving for it! When has that happened to him EVER at the USO? I don't even have to look it up! I'm quite confident Nole's upheld his ranking every tournament he plays; hence FINAL after FINAL this season going back to last fall! How much does he have to win for you to not even JOKE about such a thing in reference to this guy and future HOF'r? :puzzled :nono :p :ras:

Looks like Agut is playing his A game while Nole's trying to squeak by with his B game. You're gonna have to make some effort Nole with this one

Dont try to play that game with me Fiero ;)
I just love tennis, no personal favorite that will lurk me into "forum wars" ;)
Yeah I like Djoko's game but when you lose so many finals at your "best/second best surface" what it is called then? Hell, Djoko won all masters on clay (with so many RG finals) in Rafas time but he lacks Cinci and is only 1:5 in USO finals!? This evening Nole wouldn't stand a chance against (just for example) Feliciano/Tsonga (with their current form), not to mention Andy and Roger ;)
Problem with "percentage grinders" (Nole, Rafa & Andy to name a few most famous ones ;)) is that when someone start to hit deeper/stronger they do not change anything in their game... in that situations it is all on opponents racket ;) they just keep doing "their thing" and that's it. Ofc Rafa is best of them and Djoko comes next with Andy as last of them 3. Djoko will win this match on pure physical abilities (just like Andy vs Manarino) but with someone else who will be "in the zone" with oscillations like this... hardly ;)

I've seen the score and I see that Agut has given a hard time to Novak, three hours playing.....
Feli-Novak is going to be a very interesting match :popcorn

Respect to RBA. He will have nothing to show for all the good tennis he played tonight, but still...

I really like Agut... he always punches above his weight. Novak got into simply keeping the ball in play waiting for his opponent to miss, and RBA put him on his heels. Good to see.

I really love the thumbnail for Pavlik videos. As a video game nut myself, it puts a smile to my face.

For the last few years the American Summer Hard Courts definitely don't seem to be Novak's best or even second best surface anymore. I think the combination of speed, bounce and conditions don't suit his current style of play at all. His return and defence don't stand out as much as they do on many other courts and he seems to struggle to finish points from the baseline. The match against Dolgopolov in Cincinnati was the worst I've seen from him during the last few years in that regard and even yesterday Bautista seemed to have a noticeably easier time hitting ground stroke winners with his forehand, while Novak went to the net to end points quite often.
Also his defensive shots often seem to sit up somewhat nicely for the opponent, so by his standards he has a hard time turning rallies around.

But his form definitely looks a bit better than in Montreal and Cincinnati and he at least seems able to raise his level within a match now. Novak should still win routinely against Lopez in the next round, but I can really see Cilic or Tsonga on a great serving day causing him a lot of trouble if Novak is unable to find a higher gear.
