I cringe when Nadal is made to speak for himself in press conferences! Any one catch that? "It's all on me; not my coaches, not my physical training, blah, blah, blah! Looking to get back to where I'm supposed to be!" Dream on Majorca boy! You're about done!

Did he mention he needs more confidence? :p

Winning begets confidence! His record against the top 10 has been abysmal of late; not to mention the losses to Fabio (2 on clay, 1 on HC)! Federer can't say that even from his prime! What is that all about? I still don't understand it! Nole's almost caught up record-wise, while Roger will go down as "The GOAT" for the time being, but with a losing record against his top 2 rivals! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

Well most likely Roger will end his career with a losing h2h to Novak but then you never know. He's currently ahead and is 6 years older so it's to be expected that he should lose more often than not to the world number 1 in his prime. Winning 6-1 sets against him is impressive enough in itself.

You're obsessed about Rafa, lads. He was knocked out of the tournament on Friday: it's Sunday night and you're still yapping about him... :popcorn

Beating Nadal is the kiss of death. If you beat him, the odds are 99.7% that you will lose the next round.

Serious question.

Does an alien podperson body snatcher entity from another quasmic dimensional universe take over Cilic only during the US Open?

Well, just briefly, but sometimes a fella gets cosy in a place and he becomes hard to beat. I don't think cilic will repeat last years heroics, but I fancy him to make the semifinal a great match to watch, going down in four or five great sets. I don't expect Tsonga to beat him, that would surprise me...

Not sure if I want to see a Dkoko- Cilic match. Djoko leads that one 13-0. Cilic has won all of 5 sets.

Well like I have said in other posts on the topic, sometimes at the site of your greatest triumphs you can put together decent runs no matter what. Look at Djokovic in Australia, or Nadal in Paris, or Federer at Wimbledon. You are only as good as your last slam win/results. I am surprised, but I am also not surprised by Cilic here. He had a decent draw too. That is why it is important to keep results consistent to keep confidence high.

Why do you think I question the guts of so many players? Berdych has all the tools, but has only beaten Nadal at the AO in 10 years and 16 matches! There's a lot of that with more than competent players with all the tools, but there's something in them that won't let them finish! Nadal's had a bit of trouble of late; actually leading in his matches with a couple points to go, maybe even serving for it, then losing in 3 or 5 sets! Is this a changing of the guard; or at least a small change? :p :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

So Fed should retire tomorrow just so he could preserve an h2h against Novak, which he now leads by one? And just what tie would that h2h be breaking, pray tell - since that's what the ATP says the h2h is to be used for .. to break a tie.

Equal GS titles - nope
Equal weeks at No. 1 - nope
Equal WTF - Nope
Equal any consecutive streaks - nope

I can only hope that such foolish considerations never enter Fed's decision to continue playing if he wants to continue because he enjoys playing the game at a competitive level, and if he doesn't feel he yet wants to hit a few balls over a net in his backyard.

Tsonga will be very dangerous for Novak ;) mark my words :) cause i think that he will beat Marin easily (4 sets max).
@edit
It turns out that Bautista Agut can be dangerous too :)

I would rather see a Djoko-Tsonga match than a Djoko-Cilic match. Tsonga is playing very very well. If I heard right, he hasn't had his service broken once this tournament.

RBA is just slapping shots with abandon and they are going in. Djoko had 2 BPs for a 5-2 lead and now RBA leads 5-4.
