Serena has done the doubles/singles on fewer days - Wimbledon 2012 - due to weather, very successfully.

Serena has won 7 doubles slams when winning the singles. This is old hat to her, and she's in better shape then she was during many of the times she's pulled the singles/doubles.

The kid has come back to Earth. After getting the early break, she loses 5 games in a row. Dani takes the opening set 6-2. Let's see how much fight Vikki has in the 2nd set.

My point was you aren't going to see Serena put in too much of an effort until she senses hardware is involved in doubles. That is a Venus thing as that is really her shot at glory for the moment winning more doubles titles. Serena has goals in singles and doubles if she cares. The only doubles I would care to see Serena collect at this point is Mixed at the Australian and French for the boxed set.

In that doubles match Venus was doing most of the work and there was a reason for that, Venus needs match play and that is why Serena was letting her do all the work. Serena is trying to help her sister out so that she can get her game together she does not stay in singles long enough to get her game together. Venus needs match play and playing doubles is perfect for her.

Duval looks tired...

I think that Vicky D just faced a tough veteran player.. These are growing pains but her upside is going to be very high and swiftly. I am a Vicky D Fan;)

It's understandable she would have a letdown. Most young players do after beating a top player. She'll learn from it and hopefully be more prepared the next time the opportunity presents itself.

Caroline on Arthur Ashe in primetime - great - they know who sells tickets :clap She really gets the Sharapova treatment or what you call it. Errani and Serena are playing the other two women matches on Ashe.

:laydownlaughing

Why is that funny?

Since you're so smart figure it out yourself!!

You know you're having a Hall of Fame career when ... you can't remember how many doubles GSs you've won. It's impossible for me to wrap my mind around having had that level of success.

lol................She also said the other day that She didn't

even know where all of her trophys were.

When infornmed that IW had removed her name from the winners

list a few years ago She did reveal that She used that trophy

to keep misc. junk in.

Is that true, did IW remove her name from the list of winners?

No, it's not true:

After the WTA made IW one of the mandatory premiers, still Serena does not
play there. We know the story of why. Can any one tell me as to what
consequences she suffers for not playing in IW other than just getting a 0
pts in a mandatory tourney. Looks like she is getting away with almost
no consequence.
Can somebody explain to me the list of other consequences,
if any.

You don't think a big fat 0 and loss wages is penalty enough?? Why, cause it's not hurting her??

My God!!

If I'm not mistaken, it's a 0 and a fine.

Well the rule I believe is that the top players/players are allowed to miss one of the mandatory premiers without penalty. I think that at the time many commentators were referring to it as the Williams exception rule when they reworked the WTA Tour Roadmap as I believe they were calling it. I think in exchange, the player has to do marketing promotion for the WTA if they are missing said event.

I don't know if its still true now but it was reported that

Serena and Venus lost some of that year end bonus money

when they redid the rules to try and force them to play IW
