Well, luckily the weather looks good and chance of precipitation very low all day and evening.

And I'm embarrassed to say that the USO is terrible at scheduling the first week. Used to be Rafa always getting the Wed., esp. when he was #2...that's one of the reasons I got tickets for tomorrow.

And Janowicz lost way too early for my liking :(

It's particularly shocking because he's got better shots than Nadal on hard courts.

I'm feeling the wink in your comment, Broken. As one of the few perceived potential threats to come out of that quarter, I'm not sorry to see him go, though I don't think he'd have really threatened whomever comes out of the Nadal quarter. A *soft* quarter just got softer.

Something seriously wrong with Donald Young. He does not get wild card. He does not
complain about it. He plays qualifying tournament. Wins three matches in a row and
gets into Main Draw and today in the first round he defeats Martin Klizan and that
too with a score line of 1-0-1.

How do you explain this? Is he growing up by any chance.

Excellent post! Maybe he finally figured out nobody gives a damn anymore and you have to earn it?????

Especially when one uses the Cali dictionary of tennis talent.

A slam semi followed by a pathetic first round duffing is typical of the wannabees.

Jersey Boy has to walk the walk. That cocky persona has to be earned.

Here is my theory on Jersey. His game is considerably different from that of
most players. It is made up of huge serves and excessive drop shots. As a result,
his opponents who do not do any scouting will be in for a rude shock and will
lose quickly before they can adapt. He basically broke in by reaching the final
of Paris Indoors Masters last year. Now that it is almost an year since then,
everybody is aware of his game. So, the novelty is worn off and people are
able to deal with him.

Gents, take it easy on JJ. He had a back injury today , a bad one. He actually served underhand at some point. So whatever his issues are, this loss is not because of those.

His low percentage play and melodrama have worn thin.

When he is hitting his spots, of course, it is exciting.

Eh, I go by the old Aussie philosophy. You NEVER come to the court with excuses. They would say if you are FIT, you PLAY, and if you are NOT fit, you DO NOT PLAY.

Save the hanky...

There is something to be said about that philosophy. On the other hand, there is also something to be said about going out there, knowing you are not %100 but still giving it your best shot. I am sure Aussies would dig that too, no? ;)

No, they would not..unless it was a Wimbledon final. Not even close.

Funny, I don't remember Connors, Borg, Mac, Lendl, Becker, Sampras, Agassi, all the way on up to Joker, Nadal, Fed "hurting themselves in the gym" two days before a slam.

I see playing it fast and loose here. Jersey boy better get professional.
