They gave her a huge group hug when she walked out, in case you missed it. They remember last year, and the crowd was incensed last year at the end. I've seen Serena live at the USO at least 4 times. Trust me, she's massively popular in NYC.

I did see the match (except for the last three games). The only competitive moment that I saw was when Serena was little behind in a game in second set and came back to consolidate it (especially with a backhand passing shot).
