Stylish finish. Lopez gives him the wink. That's funny...Rafa gives the winks, too.

That's what I called a professional win from Medvedev. Did not start well on the court and he created some sort of "drama" in the 1st set but in the end he still got it done in 4 sets against a tricky opponent in Lopez. Now, just take care of business on Sunday and he will be in his 1st Slam Quarterfinals on Tuesday.

What was the drama that caused the crowd to not cheer him too much at the end? And what did he say to Lopez at the net? I missed the beginning of the match...

I dont think the NY crowd like MD...he is being booed
He got on their bad side early on, and no amount of begging for it is going to make it up. NYC is a tough room. But he'll get a fresh crowd in 2 days...for the most part.

I find it funny and enjoyable that Medvedev is trolling the New York crowd :)

While I do not appreciate what he did in the 1st set, I do appreciate that he settled in and won the match. I hope he can continue this type of energy or else the boos will get louder and louder

What did he do? It can't be worse than what Kyrgios does and the crowd still cheers for him

I didn't watch either, but there was a towel-snatching incident from a ball kid, and some grumpiness early on. Got a code violation. I don't think there was anything bad at the net with Lopez, though. He was just trying to get the crowd on his side after he won, though, and they weren't having it. He might call Coco Gauff for some PR tips with the crowd.

No, it was somewhat like what Kyrgios does, (except more brief) and the crowd boos Nick, too, don't kid yourself. I was just starting to respect Medvedev for his smarts and new cool head, but I guess there's some way to go, yet. Let's see if he can cool of for the next round.

The popcorn match to come is Kyrgios v. Rublev. I could only wish they'd put it on Ashe at night. (They won't.) But the night crowd in NYC would tear Nick a new one if he acted up. Though, I'm not sure the day session crowd will be kinder. I'll be curious to see if he panders to get them on his side. I just bet he will. We also do like a circus and a renegade. Could go either way.

Let's just say that I thought Medvedev was a class act, but I can now see that just like for example Djokovic, he will have a bad temper and some disgusting behavior when things are not going his way... It's hard to see anyone who is classy like Nadal... Maybe Auger Aliassime can be great one day he seems like he would not smash rackets, yell at ball kids, or curse left an right...

It’s a night match tomorrow on Ashe, the last one. They’ve been advertising it as such on TV

Whatever made you think Medvedev was a "class act?" He's definitely been ill-behaved in the past. But give it a rest with Djokovic. He's mostly good. Just with the pandering to the crowd. #ick Why ever Meddie thought that act at the end was going to work is beyond me. He to reverse the trend, but very much too little too late.

Djokovic is mostly good because he mostly wins... But I've seen him violently smash rackets like a maniac and scream at ball kids and his team box too many times... When things go bad, he's not good.

Oh, man...they are asking for it. I mean that seriously. Holiday weekend, Saturday night. People will be drunk. If Nick throws one spark onto that tinder, it's got real potential for nonsense. I will be watching, and I don't envy whoever the umpire is, but I can guarantee you it won't be Fergus Murphy. I'd go with Lahyani or Bernardes. Maybe Keothavong. Alternatively, Kobe Bryant has been hanging around a lot this tournament, and he might be able to handle it.

He's no angel, but you don't have to make him out to be terrible, either. It seems fannish coming from you, if you don't mind my saying so.
