I remember Shoelace mocking the suggestion last year that these directors may mess with the surface and/or weight of the balls/ depending on who their favorite player is. But I think it's a realistic possibility. It's not like these directors aren't tennis fans and therefore it's highly unlikely they don't have a favorite player...

Very possible but more a case of style of play I guess than outright favoring one particular player. The bottom line is all these scumbags care more about money than the actual tennis which is so sad. Wimbledon and now the US Open using so much heavier balls just for the sake of giving spectators longer rallies have absolutely killed the game to the extent that grinding wins matches more than shot making. Kevin Anderson with his big serve should never lose to a frankly 1 dimensional clay courter like Thiem. The fact that he has so much time to line up his shots here is the only reason Thiem won and it's just not fair on Anderson. Use proper balls and Thiem hasn't a hope in hell.

Man, this guy is playing out of his mind. Nads was actually hitting aggressively and well at that, unlike the ugly grinder special he played vs Khach. I don't think he will have the legs to do much in the 4th set but that was fun to watch. He certainly goes after it, that's the only way against Nads.

This third set was awesome where both guys played really well. You are right though, Basil has no legs or lungs left.

This guy has no serve though, if he gets that he could become a solid player quickly.

LOL. Nico's coach: I believe he found some extras I didn't even know he had. :lulz1:

That was funny but I also wonder why some of these guys are that tired after 2 hours and 3 sets and it isn't even that sunny out. And they say this guy trains a lot on clay too.

Wheels are falling off for this guy now. Brave second serve there. And a surprising serve and volley to hold. This guy has balls

While it's not as hot when I was there, it's still humid Darth. That humidity is stifling and it just zaps your energy. So unless you train specifically in those kinds of conditions you can't be sure how you will perform when you actually face them.

Dom just said he doesn't like to be considered a clay court specialist. I wonder if he's reading these boards haha.

1 UE for this peasant this set. Just letting him hang himself. How anyone enjoys this man's "normal" game is beyond me.

Do they play again Tuesday or Wednesday? We could hope for a miracle that the legendary endurance has a tough time if he plays Tuesday.
