Petra K. It's a bummer, but really, I think it was too much to ask for someone who was seriously injured to be able to get match tough that quickly for a Major...
Not only match tough, I don't think she's physically fit enough to go 3 sets, especially in the slams. She looked tired and out of breath to me at times in RG and here. Needs to build up her endurance. That may be the part she rushed in coming back.

Agreed. But I think she was right to prove to herself she could come back. As @Jelenafan said, it was too much to ask that she might do more, but she's done a lot, even just coming back. Better results to come. Brava, Petra.

Aga down a set and a break to McFail. The good news for her is that Chistina is a notorious choker so Aga will probably find herself back in the match at some point.

Well, you called that one. And McHale had MPs in the 2nd.

Aga finally wins this one. But, she is on a free fall this year and I don't think that is going to change at Wimbledon, even though I like her.

Mlad is finding it hard to play her best now that everyone expects her to. She will step up her game if she's playing a top player, but often play down to the level of the lower ranks.

Pliskobot pushed to a decider by Rybar. On serve so far, but let's see if she pulls it out.

Rybar apparently has won a lot of grass matches this year, something like 11 or 12.
She's no slouch that's for sure, but somebody Pliskobot should have been able to handle. And to think all the commentators were picking Petra/Plisko to win the thing and they both go out in R2.

Petra/Pisko were my finalist picks too.

I have interviewed Pliskova at Apia International,Sydney a few years back,a delightful young lady with loads of natural talent, very laid back....though to me she hasn't got that 'killer instinct' at times on court.I thought she had a good chance of making the final.

Another seed bites dust (or should I say grass). Kasatkina ousted by Konta light.

Safarova lost to Shelby Rogers in three sets. But, she was mentally affected by her double partner BMS's serious injury.

Today there were four upsets (although none that I predicted). Obviously Pliskova going out is the biggest one. But, Mladenovic, Kasatkina and Saffarova also exited today.

Altogether after just four day of play, 17 seeds have been sent home. This means of the 32 seeds who were supposed to reach the third round, only 15 made it. That is less than 50%. Once it becomes less than 50%, being seeded almost becomes meaningless. :lol3:

For day 4, I am projecting the Grass Aficionado Pironkova to take out Caroline Wozniacki. With less confidence, I also project Makarova to take out highly seeded Kuznetsova, in a battle of Russians.
Pironkova only wakes up for Venus...Makarova is gone
I think the winner of this event will shock everybody because they are not playing well at the moment...
