Upset Corner - Wimbledon 2016 Edition

The schedule for opening day is out. I see two possible upsets.

1. Camilla might take out Garbine embarrassing both Garbine and WTA on the center court.
Four of past eight first time ladies GS champion went out in the very first round in the next GS.
Camilla has a 2-1 advantage over Mugu in H2H (but the two wins came ins 2013 and 2014).

2. BMS might oust her doubles partner Lucie.

None of the past eight first time GS winners were able to reach the QF in the next major. Let Garbine first reach QF and then you can laugh. But, I do think she will reach QF. However, she is not winning Wimby this year though.

Thanks to the rain, there were no upsets on day 2.

I call for the following two (despite my dismal performance so far) on day 3.

1. Pironkova to oust #7 Bencic (postponed from day 2).
2. Sabine Lisciki to ourst Samantha Stosure.

I am on a roll, so far not a single upset I called for actually panned out. Bencic defeats Pironkova in straight sets. I was actually very confident of this projection considering Bencic is coming back from injury and last in the warm-ups as well. :cover

Upsets Galore.

1. Samantha Stosure taken out by Grass specialist Sabine Lisciki.
2.Sarah Errani taken out by D.Q. Alice Cornet.
3. Karolina Plisokova taken out by M. Doi
4. Kristina Malendovic gone in 1R to unknown opponent.

Stosur is not an upset. She's never been any good on grass and Lisicki only plays well on grass. Errani is another that doesn't play well on the grass. Pliskova should be made to turn in her player's card. She is terribly inconsistent as a former top 10. Kristina just laid an egg out there and that's definitely an upset.
