No, I meant "sad" as in he suddenly looked under the weather towards the end of the 2nd when he was cruising to a 2-0 lead, like the heat got to him or something....I don't know what happened

There's been a lot of that too! Sock let it get too far and he was winning 2 sets to 1! Sometimes you just have to get off the court! I remember playing a park district tournament years ago here in Chicago! I had won 2 matches and a family member had grilled some brats and like an idiot I ate it! It was brutally hot outside; the next thing I know, it's coming back up! I had to get back out there and luckily this guy forgot how to play the game and I got through it 1 and 1! I was a mess; shaking and dehydrated, but still had to get back out there for a 4th match! I was done and let it go 2 and 2! I was 19 at the time! :nono  :dodgy:

what in the world are brats :popcorn

Tasty German sausages that are also popular in the Midwest USA...in the form of big Kokk's.

Since this is a worldwide board, I guess I should have spelled it out instead of shorthand; bratswurst! :cover :nono

Ok, after a whirlwind of upsets yesterday, today there was just one.

Mighty Donald Young taking out Viktor Troici. This is the second time DY is causing upset in this USO. Also, on both occasions DY came back to win from 0-2 down in sets.

Next up for DY is Man. Their H2H is 1-1. Interestingly, the win by DY was at USO 4 years ago in R64.
Expect Ashe Stadium to be converted into a DC Venue for Swiss vs. USA (with Fed facing Isner and Stan facing DY).

Chardy plays Cilic today at 11AM. Anyone seeing an upset here?

Hope Chardy wins.

What would be the upset? Chardy or Cilic winning? ;)

I'm with Chardy too. Should be a good one.

:clap Finally, we had a day of 0 upsets on Sunday :clap

Monday upset was the biggest though, considering their previous H2H

it is not a huge h2h. Murray was 8-6 against Anderson coming in to this match.

It was 5-1 for Murray. And most importantly, Anderson had never defeated a top 10 player in any slam until now.

Ya, you are right. I got the H2H mixed up. Yes, Anderson something like 0-15 against top 10 players in slams going in to today's match.

But, given his performance in Wimby against Novak, it is not totally out of the blue either.

If you look at Anderson's record in the Slams, it has been getting better and better. This was bound to happen sooner or later. Now he'll make a few QF and then a token SF before fading into the sunset at age 38.

On Monday, we had two upsets, one big and one small. Andy getting booted out by Anderson and Bird flown home by Gas.

Anyway, we now have only 3 of the top 8 players remaining and two of them are Swiss blokes.

Very appropriate with the 2 top seeds, the defending champion, and the other lone major winner of this season in Stan! I think it's a good thing! Nole's on track for his 3rd, Roger looking to make it an even 18 GS, and Cilic needing to defend as many of his points as he can! He'll probably drop out of the top 10 if he doesn't win another match today! :nono  :dodgy:

Tsonga out

Were you surprised? Should have been at most a 4 setter with Cilic in complete command of that match! So many have trouble finishing; even Nole at times! I looked up their H2H and JW is "owned!" (1-5 now) :cover :nono  :dodgy:

Technically, not an upset given that Cilic is #9, several spots ahead of Tsonga and also given that Cilic is the DC.

Alright... no upsets last night. And only one more upset possible ;)
